iSeries Merit Super Pillow Top

The second highest mattress in the iSeries Hybrid Sleep System by Serta is the 14¾" iSeries Merit Super Pillow Top. Like the other models in this series, it features Cool Action™ Dual Effects® Gel Memory Foam and Duet® Coil Individually Wrapped Coil-in-Coil Support System, adding the sure support of a coil system to the contouring conformity of iComfort memory foam mattress comfort layers.

The cover fabric of the iSeries Expression Firm is polyester. It is quilted to PilloFill and FireBlocker.
The pillow top (1) of the Merit is Serta® Comfort XD™ Foam. According to Serta, this "extra deep layer of soft yet supportive foam gently cradles the body to help reduce pressure build up." The pillow top is separated fro the main comfort layer by an innerpanel.

The middle (2) of the iSeries Merit Super Pillow top is Cool Action™ Dual Effects® Gel Memory Foam. Serta claims that this is the "World’s first dual-action gel memory foam." It is infused with two of Serta's gels. MicroSupport® gel is for pressure relief. Gel beads are concentrated under areas of the sleeper's body needing more support. MicroCool+™ gel is for conducting heat away from the sleeping surface to dissipate.

Primary support for the iSeries Merit Super Pillow Top mattress comes from the innerspring unit, the Duet® Coil Individually Wrapped Coil-in-Coil Support System (3). These are dual coils, first patented in 2010 by Sealey. Each 2-in-1 coil is really two coils made from one wire, on coil inside the other. The taller outer coil has fewer turns, making it more responsive for an initial cushioning response. The shorter inner coil with more turns is firmer. When the outer coil is compressed far enough, the inner coil provides deep support. This way the dual coils are responsive enough for lightweight sleepers and firm enough for heavy persons.

These also have the advantage of pocket coils with individual response. This makes them conform to body contours. Pocket coils also dampen motion transfer to reduce disturbance to one sleeper when the other moves.

Recommended foundations for the iSeries Merit Super Pillow Top are Serta's StabL-Base® fabric-covered platform foundation and the Motion Signature adjustable base.

The iSeries Merit carries the Serta 25-year limmited warranty, with 15 years non-prorated and 10 prorated. It is available through several retailers, in stores and online.
