Tea Leaf Classic

The Tea Leaf Classic is one of three current Keetsa Eco-Friendly Mattresses models with "Tea Leaf" in their names. The other two are Tea Leaf Dream and Tea Leaf Supreme. This 13" high model and the 14" Tea Leaf Dream are innerspring mattresses, while the 12" Tea Leaf Supreme is a memory foam mattress. Keetsa's tagline for the Tea Leaf Classic is "Incredible Comfort in a Coil Mattress." The key features are iCoils support, hemp blend cover fabric, BioFoam memory foam, and EverGreen green tea extract.

With a coil count of 768 (Queen size), the iCoil innerspring unit of individually wrapped pocket coils is responsive to a sleeper's body. The independent response of the 7½" coils conforms to body contours. This conformity is tempered by the overlying layers, but it complements the response of the foams above, especially the memory foam.

Around the iCoil unit is foam encasement for protection of the coils. This is augmented by the bottom foam rails. Foam encasement also supports the edge of the sleeping surface, to forestall roll-offs and make the surface 100% usable.

The Tea Leaf Classic has 1" of quilted memory foam. This is Keetsa's BioFoam with plant-oil polyols (caster bean oil). The advantage of caster bean oil over soy oil is that it is a polyol, while soy oil needs to be chemically processed first. This replaces some of the petroleum in the memory foam. Airing out the foam before being used reduces outgassing. CertiPUR-US grades BioFoam as free from certain harmful chemicals.

In a departure from the previously reviewed Keetsa Eco-Friendly Mattresses models, the cover fabric of the Tea Leaf Classic is a hemp blend, with 12% hemp, 28% cotton, and 60% polyester. This natural color jacquard material is quilted to breathable padding of wool and poly fiber.

The comfort section of the Tea Leaf Classic has several layers of three kinds of foam: BioFoam memory foam (described above), Super Soft foam, and high density foam. Three of these layers are Super Soft, a plush material, with ½" in the quilting, 1" just beneath the quilting, and another ½" between the HD foam and the coils.

The high density foam layer in the Tea Leaf Classic is 2" thick. This is a support foam, giving this mattress a very firm feel, even with the Super Soft layers.

Keetsa Eco-Friendly Mattresses offers three foundations for the Tea Leaf Classic. First is the Keetsa Steel Bed Frame with a tubular steel structure, 12 legs and a grid of closely-spaced rods for consistent support of the mattress.

The second foundation is a box spring "for someone wanting the support of a traditional box spring." The Vivon Bi-Fold Steel Box Spring comes folded almost flat. Unfolded, it automatically sets up as a box spring, It will fit on a standard bed frame.

The third foundation Keetsa sells for the Tea Leaf Classic is The Freeport, a product of The Bedworks of Maine. The Freeport is contructed of solid ash, a North American hardwood.

Adjustable beds and murphy beds are not acceptable to Keetsa. Using them will void the manufacturers warranty. The Keetsa Eco-Friendly Mattresses warranty is for 12 years, non-prorated.
