King Koil says their World Luxury Series "makes premium, healthy sleep attainable." The middle model of this brand of innerspring mattresses is the Barcelona Cushion Firm. According to King Koil, "Every detail in this mattress is perfected to bring out the highest level of comfort. Silk and Wool blends, iFusion Visco Gel and layer upon layer of upholstery to achieve the perfect balance of comfort and support." The luxury features also include Hydra-Performa moisture-wicking technology and Contour Luxury Plus encased pocketed coil unit.
The silk & wool blend cover fabric is combined with Hydra-Performa technology to keep the sleeping surface dry with stable temperatures. Hydra-Performa fibers wick away body moisture from the sleeping to evaporate. Silk and wool make the cover of the Barcelona breathable. Silk gives a smooth feel, while wool is temperature neutral, keeping the sleeper not too warm and not too cool. This cover is quilted to Safeguard, a flame resistant fiber pad, to meet federal flammability guidelines.
The top comfort layer of the World Luxury Barcelona Cushion Firm mattress is AdvantaGel. This is a highly resilient foam which is infused with gel. The resiliency of the foam cushions the sleepers while making it easier for them to change positions. Gel is there for cooling and enhanced support.
Beneath the AdvantaGel is a layer of SuperSoft foam, which King Koil calls "High Performance." This plush foam tempers the firmness of other layers to bring the firmness level to Medium Firm (also called "Cushion Firm").
The King Koil World Luxury iFusion combines open-cell memory foam with gel-infusion. The open-cell structure makes memory foam more resilent. It also allows air to filter through for ventilation and cooling. Gel also make the memory foam more resilient and acts as a heat sink.
The enhanced Cushion Firm Perfect Contour foam in the Barcelona is a thick layer of convoluted foam. The sculpted surface conforms to the shape of the sleeper's body, relieving pressure points. It also allows air flow. The composition of the foam itself is in five zones, corresponding to five areas of the body. The layer is Cushion Firm overall, but the zones differ in their firmness levels to configure support specifically to body zones, more where needed, less between. This is to help the spine maintain proper posture.
Under the convoluted foam in the Barcelona Cushion Firm is a layer of Visco Plus Memory Foam. Visco-elastic memory foam was developed to conform to body contours for evenly distributed support.
The innerspring in the World Luxury Barcelona Cushion Firm mattress is Contour Luxury Plus, an array of individually wrapped pocket coils. Responding independently to pressure place directly on them, these coils conform to the body's contours. The larger parts of the body do not bear all the pressure, since the in-between parts are also supported. This reduces pressure points and keeps the spine in line. It also minimizes motion transfer and partner disturbance. Under the Contour Luxury Plus pocket coil unit is a fiber base pad to support and protect the coils.
Around the Contour Luxury Plus is the Excellent Edge™ foam encasement to hold the coils in place and to provide edge support for the sleeping surface.
The preferred foundation for the Barcelona Cushion Firm is a wood-framed box foundation (as seen in the exploded view above). These mattresses are also compatible with European wood slats, platform beds and adjustable beds.
The Barcelona Cushion Firm mattress, as are all World Luxury models, is covered with the King Koil 10-year non-prorated warranty.
