The Kensington is a plush model in King Koil's World Luxury Series. Between the silk & wool blend cover with Hydra-Performa moisture control and the Contour Luxury Plus encased pocket coil system are layers of AdvantaGel, "High Performance" SuperSoft foam and Enhanced SuperSoft Perfect Contour convoluted foam. According to King Koil, the Kensington Plush defines luxury.
Their claim begins at the top of the mattress, where the Hydra-Performa Technology keeps the sleeping surface dry with fibers that wick body moisture away. The cover fabric of silk and wool is breathable. The silk is to make it smooth while the wool is temperature neutral. Quilted to this is a pad of fire retardant SafeGuard fiber.
The AdvantaGel just below the quilted cover is high resiliency foam infused with beads of gel. The resilient foam is for cushioning support, while the gel is for cooling.
The next layer of "High Performance" SuperSoft foam is for "that soft feeling" with a degree of conformity.
The convoluted surface of the SuperSoft Perfect Contour foam lets air flow through for freshness and cooling while conforming to the shape of the sleeper(s). The density of this foam is configured into five zones for different levels of support for five areas of the body. The concept of zoned support is now used by several mattress manufacturers.
Individually pocketed coils are used for conforming support in the Kensington. Since the coils respond independently, when one is depressed by a larger part of the body, the neighboring coils still support the smaller parts. This distributes support evenly, relieving pressure points. It also allows the spine to maintain its normal posture. Since one coil does not pull down another, this also reduces motion disturbance when one partner moves.
The coil unit is surrounded by King Koils's Excellent Edge™ foam encasement to hold the pocket coils in place and provide edge support to the sleeping surface.
The preferred foundation for a pocket coil mattress such as the King Koil World Luxury Kensington is wood-framed box foundation or a platform bed. These mattresses are also compatible with European wood slats and adjustable beds.
The Kensington, like all World Luxury Series mattresses, carries the 10-year non-prorated warranty. This covers the mattress against manufacturing and materials defects. The Kensington is available through several retailers.
