The Palermo Plush Euro Top is the top model—and the plushest—in the World Luxury Series, the newest brand by mattress manufacturer King Koil. Each model of these innerspring mattresses has individually wrapped pocket coils and foam encasement edge support at the bottom with a silk-wool cover on top.
The quilted cover fabric of the Palermo is a blend of silk and wool. This breathable fabric has Hydra-Performa fibers to wick body moisture away from the surface. It is quilted to a flame retardent Safeguard fiber pad.
Under the cover is a 1˝" AdvantaGel layer. This is high resiliency foam infused with beads of gel for cooling.
Below the AdvantaGel are layers of SuperSoft High Performance Foam, GelResponse latex, iFusion ViscoGel foam, and UltraSoft Perfect Contour Convoluted Foam. These combine with the Encased Coil unit for a comfort level of Ultra Plush.
The Palermo has two layers of SuperSoft High Performance Foam. A 1" layer is just beneath the AdvantaGel, and 1˝" just above the Encased Coil core. The SuperSoft is to provide plushness to this mattress for soft comfort without compromising firm support.
There are two more layers with cooling gel-infused foam in the World Luxury Palermo besides the AdvantaGel: 1" each of King Koil's Gel-Response Latex and iFusion ViscoGel. The Gel-Response has the resiliency and breathability of latex, while the iFusion just below features the contouring conformability of memory foam.
Described as "ultra soft," World Luxury's 2˝" high Perfect Contour convoluted foam has a sculpted top surface for air flow and reduction of motion disturbance. The foam itself is divided into five zones of different firmness levels to configure the support of the Palermo for five areas of the body.
Also called "Marshall coils" after their inventor, the the 1024 coil count Contour Elite Plus pocket coil unit conforms to the sleeper's body contours and weight as each individually wrapped coil responds indpendently. This is to reduce pressure points, such as at the shoulders and hips, and to keep the spine in line, even for side sleepers. The coil unit is surrounded by King Koil's Excellent Edge foam encasement. This both keeps coils in place and provides edge support for the sleeping surface.
With this many layers in the World Luxury Palermo, there has to be some way to keep them aligned. Tailormade Tufting does this. Top-to-bottom tufting cords hold the upholstery layers in place. Anchoring at the top gives the surface an attractive appearance.
