Magniflex Mattino
The
Mattino 8" ElioSoft Mattress is called by
Magniflex a "Wellness and comfort solution." The manufacturer claims "special orthopedic properties" for this model, such as the the combination of Magniflex's
Eliosoft support material with their
Memoform Magnifoam, which is quilted with the cover fabric.
Magniflex's
Eliosoft is a polyurethane foam of expanded microcells. The microcells are linked together "at a capillary level" to yield a specific density high enough for medium firmness with a soft consistency. For heavier-than-normal persons, the firmness may be described as "anatomical." Magniflex uses water, not solvents, in the making of its foams, thus there is no outgassing.
The
Memoform Magnifoam is
Magniflex's proprietary form of visco-elastic memory foam, known for its conforming support. Memory foam was developed for consumer use from foam engineered by NASA to cushion astronauts on launch. The role of
Memoform Magnifoam in the
Mattino is to tailor support to the shape and weight of the sleeper's body. According to
Magniflex, it "fills the spaces between the curvature of the spine and keeps it perfectly aligned." In the process, this is supposed to provide relief from pressure points.
Magniflex uses fabrics treated with "Mędical" in the covers of
Mattino mattresses. "Mędical i-link", produced by Devan Chemicals, was developed by European scientists to treat hospital bed linens and gowns to combat the spread of Hospital Associated Infections (HAI). "Mędical" links fabrics to an anti-microbial coating which stays in place. On hospital linens and gowns it can last for several washings. It is used on
Magniflex Mattino mattresses to provide anti-bacterial protection for the users, thus enhancing their health.
According to one retailer, the
Magniflex Mattino has a 3-D band around the middle of the mattresse to provide ventilation. This enhanced air flow should forestall the growth of mold and the build-up of odors.
No particular foundation is specified to be used with the
Magniflex Mattino, but wood slats or a platform are suggested, as they provide full support for a foam mattress.
The
Magniflex Mattino 8" ElioSoft Mattress comes with a 20-year manufacturer's warranty. It is made in the Magniflex factory in Prato, Italy, not far from Florence, vacuum-packed and shipped to the buyer.
