N17 Enchantment
The
N17 Enchantment in the
Nouvelle Series is the top-of-the-line model in the
2015 Collection of
adjustable air beds by
Comfortaire, the original adjustable air bed company. It is roughly equivalent to the
Elite Series Elite 2, but the cover is not quilted. This is a "17-Inch two-piece box-top" model combining
Feran Ice®
Technology moisture control,
PerceptivePhase Foam™ temperature control, and
Attune Design™ advanced air support with foam-rail edge support. The goal of this configuration is to keep the sleeper cool and dry while supporting the spine and relieving pressure points.

The sleeper first encounters the
N17 Enchantment airbed mattress at the unquilted
cover with
Feran Ice®
Technology. The soft knit cover fabric contains fibers that collect perspiration moisture and wick it away to keep the sleeping surface dry. In this process, the moisture evaporates, adding a cooling effect.
Just under the cover is a layer of
PerceptivePhase Foam™. This is
memory foam infused with
gel that has
phase change materials (PCMs) in it.
PCMs change their physical state in response to temperature changes to keep temperatures withing a desired range. When temperatures exceed the range, the
PCMs liquify, absorbing heat. When the temperature fallls below the range, they solidify, releasing heat.
Attune Design is a development from
Comfortaire's
Original Air Technology, with air chambers made of urethane film instead of
cotton and
latex. In the
N17 Enchantment these are 3˝" high. The air chambers have only one foam layer between them and the sleeper. With
Edge-to-Edge air, support can be adjusted for the entire surface area of the mattress.
The air chamber layer of the
N17 Enchantment lies on a 6" high support core of high-resiliency
polyurethane base
foam. This protects and supports the
Attune Design air core so it can better support the user. Under this is a 2" base pad.
Around the support core and base pad is an 8" high
Foam Perimeter Support rail with 1.6 density.
The
Attune air chambers are inflated by a
Whisperflo 7200 (
Wf7) air pump, This is a dual diaphragm system which operates quietly. It can inflate the chambers 25% firmer than the
Whisperflo 4200 used on earlier models.
The recommended
foundations for the
N17 Enchantment provide consistent support under the entire airbed.
Comfortaire sells
adjustable beds by
Leggett & Platt (
Silhouette and
Shipshape), the
Tranquility foldable metal frame/foundation and the
Comfortaire Stratus wood foundation (a
platform).
The
Comfortaire N17 Enchantment carries a 25-year limited warranty non-prorated for the first 4 years and prorated for the remaining years.
