The Martinique Gel Memory Foam Mattress by Nature's Sleep is a near equivalent of the Nature's Sleep Cool IQ 10" Memory Foam Mattress listed by Groupon. Four notable differences are (1) the gel memory foam is called Superior Gel Technology on the Nature's Sleep site and Cool IQ on Groupon; (2) The Martinique is produced in the USA and in China, while the Cool IQ is made in the USA; (3) the support core is moderate density in the Martinique and high density in the Cool IQ; and (4) the composition of the cover fabric is given for the Cool IQ, but that of the Martinique is not. Otherwise, these two are the same.
Nature's Sleep uses Superior Gel Technology (SGT) gel memory foam in the 3" comfort layer of the Martinique. SGT is memory foam infused with spheres of gel, claimed to be better at removing heat than the gel beads used by most foam makers. In the Groupon listing, Nature's Sleep describes the Cool IQ as a gel-infused memory foam with an "Extra-large open-cell design." This would allow more air to filter through the foam for more cooling.
In the Martinique, Nature's Sleep says the SGT is combined with its Next Generation memory foam. This is evidently not an additional layer, since the 3" comfort layer and the 7" support core add up to the 10" overall height of this memory foam mattress. Though differing in description, this combination could be the same as the Cool IQ gel memory foam.
The 7" high support core is listed as having moderate density in the Matinique and high density in the Cool IQ. Nevertheless, the overall comfort level for both models is medium. The polyurethane foam support core provides primary support for the mattress and the sleepers. This keeps sleepers from bottoming out on the conforming memory foam. It also prolongs the life of the memory foam. And it is definitely more cushioning than 3" of memory foam placed directly on the floor.
The cover of the Nature's Sleep Cool IQ is an 80/20 blend of cotton and polyester, but that of the Martinique is called velour (which refers to the texture, not the fiber). It is removable and washable, but can also be spot cleaned. This embossed cover is hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and resistant to dust mites.
The Martinique Gel Memory Foam Mattress and the Cool IQ 10" Memory Foam Mattress can be used with foundations providing firm, consistent support, such as that provided by a platform, a slatted wood box and adjustable beds. Traditional box springs are generally not recommended for memory foam mattresses.
Comparing the Martinique Gel Memory Foam Mattress and the Cool IQ 10" Memory Foam Mattress, they are essentially the same. It appears that the Cool IQ was customized by Nature's Sleep for Groupon. A search found this model only on that site. This is supported by the fact the IQ is made or assembled only in the United States, while the Martinique is produced in both the US and China.
Both of these mattresses come with a 20-year limited waranty from Nature's Sleep.
