Like the Comfort Support Collection, the Signature Collection of innerspring mattresses by Northwest Bedding has only three models, named by style and comfort level: Signature Collection Latex Pillow Top, Signature Collection Latex Euro Top, Signature Collection Latex Plush. Two significant features differentiate these two collections. Whereas Comfort Support mattresses have alternating offset coil support units, those in the Signature Collection rely on individually wrapped pocket coils. Above this, Signature models have two layers of Talalay latex. These differences alone account for the difference in prices between the two collections.
The pocket coil innerspring in a Signature Collection mattress is zoned for selective support levels for areas of the sleeper's body. Northwest Bedding does not specify the number of zones for this collection, but in the Columbia Collection the Kootenay models have 7 zones differing by the coil wire gauge. However, there are other options which other manufacturers use for the number of zones (3 or 5) and the means of zoning (coil diameters, nesting vs. parallel, spacing, number of turns).
As of now, Northwest Bedding has only two model descriptions for the three mattresses in the Signature Collection. Somehow, the mattress description on the Signature Collection Latex Euro Top page is the one for the Signature Collection Latex Plush. Naturally, I expect the eurotop model to be more like the pillowtop model than the tight top Plush model.
A pillow top mattress differs from a euro top mattress in how the topper section is attached to the mattress. The pillow top appears like a pillow on top of the mattress. The sides of the euro top line up with the sides of the mattress. A tight top mattress does not have the topper section.
Signature Collection mattresses have very firm foam encasing their pocket coil support units around the perimeter and on the bottom. The foam encasement acts as edge support for the sleeping surface, but the primary role is to hold the coils in place and protect them (Bonnell coils and continuous coils do not need foam encasement).
In the Signature Collection models, the support unit is covered by a layer of Talalay latex. Latex foam is known for its resilience, its bounce (remember that latex foam is the same as foam rubber). Many users prefer this to the cradling effect of memory foam. Talalay latex is used in the comfort layers instead of Dunlop latex because it is more breathable as well as more conforming. Above this is another layer of latex. The firmnesses of the latex layers may depend on the model. In the Pillow Top mattress, they are medium firm and plush, the same as in the Plush. I do not have the firmnesses for latex in the Euro Top.
The Signature Collection Latex Pillowtop mattress has a layer of Northwest Bedding's BioFlex foam between the layers of latex. I will assume that the Signature Collection Latex Eurotop also has a foam layer between the two latex layers. In the Signature Collection Latex Plush, the plush latex lies directly atop the medium firm.
Northwest Bedding describes the cover fabric as "elegant." It is tack quilted to plush layers of NWB's plant-based CushionFlex foam.
Signature Collection mattresses are available in four sizes: Twin, Full, Queen and King. Foundations of the same sizes are provided for them. These are upholstered wood-framed bases; the upholstery matches the mattress. Signature models are also compatible with adjustable beds and platform beds. Old-fashioned type box springs are not advisable.
Available online from Northwest Bedding or in their Spokane, WA, showrooms, Signature Collection mattresses are also sold by participating retailers across the Pacific Northwest. They are covered by a 10-year warranty.
