Ultimate Life I * * * Ultimate Life II * * * Ultimate Life III
Naming the models in the Ultimate Life Collection of innerspring mattresses by Northwest Bedding is as easy as 1, 2, 3: Ultimate Life I, Ultimate Life II, Ultimate Life III. Northwest Bedding cites the durability of these mattresses, saying that they are suitable whether the users are "petite or plus sized." According to NWB, they "will withstand heavy use for years to come."
That dual claim of suitability for both very light and very heavy sleepers rests on the innerspring of heavy-gauge double offset coils. Squared off and hinged to adjacent coils at both ends, they can bear more weight than pocket coils. The softer initial response cushions smaller persons, with a firmer response a little ways down to hold a larger person. These offset coils are almost as conforming as pocket coils, certainly more so than continuous coils or Bonnell coils.
The innerspring is wrapped around the perimeter in BioFlex foam. This very firm, very dense foam provides edge support to the sleeping surface. This foam also constitutes the base pad under the coil unit. Using foam encasement dampens sound, making the innerspring quiet.
BioFlex Foam * * * * Talalay Latex
What comfort foams are above the coils in Ultimate Life mattresses depends on the model. These foams are plant-based BioFlex and Talalay latex. Ultimate Life I has two layers of "cushion grade" BioFlex foam. The lower one is medium firm, and the upper one is soft. Both comfort layers are medium firm in Ultimate Life II. The first is BioFlex, and the second is latex. Ultimate Life III has three comfort layers. The first is medium firm BioFlex, the second firm Talalay latex, and the third soft Talalay latex.
The Ultimate Life mattresses are topped with covers of designer fabric. The print on this stretch knit material varies by model (see photos). This fabric is tack-quilted to fire resistant fibers and soft foam layers. This plant-based cushioning foam is not named, but it could be CushionFlex.
Northwest Bedding provides wood-framed foundations for Ultimate Life Collection mattresses. The bases are upholstered to match the mattress sides. They come in either standard height or low profile. Ultimate Life models are also compatible with platform beds (which NWB sells in its showrooms) and adjustable beds.
Northwest Bedding sells mattresses in the Ultimate Life Collection online and in its Spokane area showrooms. They are also available at several retailers in Washingtom, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. The warranty is for 10 years non-prorated.
