The OrganicPedic Midori by Organic Mattresses, Inc. (OMI) is a low profile, two-sided, all-latex mattress, which is patterned after the Japanese style of firm beds. Only 7" high, it has a 6" Talalay latex core covered with OMI's OrganicPedic knit quilting.

The Talalay latex core is made of all-natural organic latex. The source of this latex (also known as rubber) is the sap of the Amazonian rubber tree, grown in Southeast Asia rubber plantations, which makes it a sustainable resource. The sap is frozen before shipping to the United States so it won't be sprayed with pesticides. In America it is cured and molded. The mattresses are then hand-fashioned in a factory which is certified as 100% organic and chemical-free.

Among the benefits of natural latex are its resiliency and durability, and its resistance to microbes, dust mites, mildew and mold. Also, its flexibility makes it ideal for use with adjustable beds. The latex used in the OrganicPedic Midori is configured to be medium-firm.

The covering of the OrganicPedic Midori is organic cotton fabric quilted with Eco-Wool (untreated wool). These materials are breathable. The wool is naturally flame resistant, which negates the need to use chemical fire retardants while meeting federal flammability standards. The wool also is a temperature regulator, and also wicks moisture away from the sleeping surface to provide a cool and dry sleeping experience.

The recommended bases for the OrganicPedic Midori are the OMI box spring or the OMI wood slat foundation. Among the advantages of an open base like these are ventilation (to prevent mold and mildew) and protecting the mattress from wear on a metal frame. Also, by choosing a base of a different height, the user can adjust the overall height of the sleeping surface from the floor.

Like all OMI mattresses, the OrganicPedic Midori carries a 20-year warranty. It is available through many retailers from coast to coast, several of which are online.
