Ortho Avant Harmony
The
Harmony is a model in the
Ortho Avant series made by
Ortho Mattress, Inc. (O-M), a manufacturer and retailer of mattresses and other bedding products in Southern Califoria. Like other
O-M mattresses, it is sold exclusively in the approximately 75
Ortho Mattress Stores in the southern portion of California.
The
Ortho Avant series are memory foam mattresses, featuring what
Ortho Mattress calls "Modern Memory Foam." This visco-elastic memory foam is gel-infused. According to
O-M, this is a low-emission material, meaning that it does not outgas fumes from volatile organic compounds. The company makes no claims concerning the substances from which their memory foam is made.
Ortho also claims that their memory foam mattresses are hypo-allergenic. They also say that their memory foam absorbs motion rather than transferring it from one sleeper to another. It does have "solid-state edge support."
Ortho Mattress does not detail any layers in the
Ortho Avant Harmony, leaving the impression that the mattress is solidly memory foam, though this is not stated either. Neither do they state the height of this mattress, but judging by the photo of the mattress on a box spring, it appears to be 12" or 13" high.
Ortho Mattress did not always make its products in the USA. In 2007, it moved manufacturing of models made in China to affiliates in California. The reason was not stated, but other manufacturers have done the same because of quality.
Like all
Ortho mattresses, the
Harmony is factory-direct, delivered from the factory to the customer. It has a lifetime warranty. The unquilted cover "meets federal fire retardant guildelines." They are both "adjustable ready" and "platform friendly."
