The Back Performance Collection by Paramount Sleep (PS) is four collections in one. The tagline is, "Better sleep leads to better performance!" PS stresses the necessary balance between activity and rest and the role of mattresses in getting needed rest.
The four Back Performance collections are Octane, FE, MX Gel and PS. Some retailers still carry models from an older RX Gel Collection. Paramount Sleep cites the "ergonomic designs" in these series. Common to all four collections are quilted knit covers "treated with a Thermo Gel finish." This finish utilizes what PS calls "Cooling nanotechnology." Though not specifically identified, this sounds almost like Phase Change Materials and/or microscopic moisture-wicking structures.
At least ¾ of the Back Performance collections are innerspring mattresses with gel foam comfort. Support systems include two kinds of coils (LFK offset coils and pocket coils) with foam encasement and support grade memory foam. One retailer separates the four Back Performance collections into two caterories: BP Memory Foam and BP Hybrids. In all of these mattresses, the support is zoned into five areas for sections of the body.
These Back Performance models are described as providing three-in-one sleep benefits: "comfort, support and durability." Paramount Sleep says Octane mattresses will "Fuel Your Sleep" with layers of "high density OCTANE performance foam." Basic support for Octane mattresses is supplied by pocket coils. Foam encasement protects the coils and supports the edge of the sleeping surface, making 20% more usable area on the top.
Support for mattresses in the Back Performance FE Collection relies on LFK type offset coils. The springs in this innerspring unit are interlinked with helical wires for increased stability. The wire still allows a measure of flexibility and conformity. This spring array is encricled by foam encasement, which is edge support for the top.
The base support core in MX Gel Collection models is not exactly specified as such. The Paramount Sleep description of the collection does not mention coils, but does cite the support role of gel added to the memory foam, then mentions premium memory foams in the comfort layers. If there are no springs, then this would be a memory foam mattress. Even so, the support core has foam encasement for stability and edge support. This collection boasts of motion separation and pressure relief.
The PS in the name of the Back Performance PS Collection stands for "Performance Springs." The support unit is an innerspring of individually wrapped tempered steel pocket coils. According to Paramount Sleep, the pockets are made of high density fabric. The coils are arranged in longitudinal (head-to-toe) rows to minimize transfer of motion between sides of the bed.
Paramount Sleep's Back Performance mattresses are covered by a 10-year non-prorated warranty. They are available thrugh a number of retailers.
