The PedicSolutions 12" Memory Foam Mattress, sold on QVC, has two layers and a zippered, stretchable, double-knit polyester cover. It combines the conforming comfort of memory foam with the solid support of high-density base foam.

The 3-inch top layer is made of 4-pound memory foam. This polyurethane material is engineered to conform to the shape and wieght of the user's body. This is to reduce pressure on points of the body, such as the head, shoulders, hips and knees, whatever presses further down while the user lies on the mattress. Since memory foam has a tendency to collect and build up heat, this memory foam has been processed to allow air to filter through it, releasing the heat.

The lower layer of the Pedic Solutions 12-inch Memory Foam Mattress is 9 inches of high density support foam, balancing the give of the memory foam. This is to provide necessary support for the sleeper. It keeps the memory foam from sagging and prolongs its life. It also minimizes motion transfer, so that when one sleeper changes position it does not disturb the other.

The Pedic Solutions 12" Memory Foam Mattress is 2 inches thicker than the 10" Memory Foam Mattress, but is somewhat less expensive. Why? The 10" model has three zones created through Surface Modification Technology, but the 12" does not. The 12-inch mattress does have 2 inches more support foam in the base layer than the 10" model, which does increase the overall support. So the choice is between the area zoning and firmer support.
