Perfect Sleeper SmartSurface Highfield Firm

The Highfield Firm is one of three models in the SmartSurface Collection under the Perfect Sleeper brand. These innerspring mattresses are designed and made by Serta in cooperation with the National Sleep Foundation.


The Highfield Firm shares with the other two SmartSurface models the SmartSurface quilted top and the Free Flex Innerspring support system. Between these two signature features of the collection are the Top Upholstery layers which define this model.

The defining feature of the Perfect Sleeper SmartSurface Collection is the top panel of the cover. The blended polyester-lycra-rayon cover fabric is quilted with FireBlocker Fiber, Body Loft anti-microbial fibers, and PillowSoft foam. FireBlocker Fiber is a flame resistant material used to meet federal flammability standards. Body Loft quilting fibers are resistant to bacteria and mold. They are used to put cushioning support in the top of the mattress. PillowSoft is Serta's extra soft foam, used to give the cover soft comfort. Together, these quilting layers are intended to begin relief of pressure points.

Free Flex is Serta's development of continuous coils. They are designed to be more conforming. With a coil count of 814, this innerspring features Serta's TrueSense design which is zoned for more support under the middle of the body. This area has 25% greater coil density.


Coupled with the innerspring is the edge support. The innerspring unit has 6-gauge perimeter rods. To these is added Total Edge foam encasement. This supports the edge of the sleeping surface to prevent roll-offs and facilitate sitting on the edge.

In the middle of the mattress are 1" of Serta's Support Foam, Cool Twist gel memory foam, 1" of PillowSoft, and an Insulator Pad. The support foam provides firmness. The underlying Cool Twist is memory foam infused with liquid gel. The gel enhances support amid the contouring conformity of the foam. this foam is also structured for airflow for coolness and freshness. The Insulator Pad protects the innerspring and the foam from each other. It keeps the foam from intruding into the coils where it is torn and the coils are jammed.


Serta provides two foundations for the SmartSurface Highfield Firm. StabL-Base is a platform (replacing the once-common box springs) with double-beam construction for motion isolation. Serta recommends one of its adjustable beds, the Motion Perfect Essentials Adjustable Base, which is made and warrantied by Ergomotion.


The Serta manufacturers warranty on the Perfect Sleeper SmartSurface Highfield Firm is for 20 years. This model is carried by several retailers across Canada and the United States. Some of these retailers have alternate names for this mattress, especially those which sell online.
