Posturepedic Hybrid Ability Firm

The 12½" Ability Firm is a mattress in the Posturepedic Hybrid Series. It is one of the two middle-height models in the most widely available model group. The other models are the 13½" Majesty Ultra Plush, 12½" Encourage Plush and 11½" Trust Cushion Firm. Being hybrids, these are half innerspring mattress and half memory foam mattress.

Like the other Posturepedic Hybrid models, Ability has a cover of extra-stretch ForeverFlex™ Fabric.

The comfort core has three kinds of foam. The 1" top layer is Serta's OptiCool Gel Memory Foam, which regulates temperature with Outlast Phase Change Materials (PCMs). The center third of this layer is the CoreSupport Center with extra support for the heavier middle section of the user's body. The 1" second layer is OptiPro Memory Foam, which is more quickly responsive than regular memory foam, to rapidly adjust to sleepers' change of position. And the third layer is 2" of SuperSoft ActiveFlex, polyurethane engineered for pressure relief.

The support core of the Ability Firm is the Posturepedic Apex HS system of individually wrapped ("encased") 14-gauge titanium alloy pocket coils. Also called "Marshall coils" after their inventor, these coils respond individually to the shape and weight of a sleeper's body. This minimizes pressure points, a frequent cause of pain. Edge support is provided by the SolidEdge foam encasement.

Recommended foundations for the Posturepedic Hybrid Ability Firm are the Sealy StayTight™ Foundation with a non-skid cover and the Reflexion® Powerbase, an adjsutable bed.

The Sealy warranty for the Posturepedic Hybrid Ability Firm is for 10-years non-prorated. Some retailers name a 120-day trial period. The Ability Firm is widely available, both online and in stores.
