Posturepedic Hybrid Series by
Sealy are real hybrid mattresses: half
memory foam mattress, half
innerspring mattress. They offer support from the bottom up and comfort from the top down. The most common four-model set ranges in height from 11½ to 13½ inches with comfort levels from 3.5 to 6.5 (firm-to-soft). The
Encourage Plush is the second plushest, behind the
Majesty Plush.
Support in the
Posturepedic Hybrid Encourage Plush begins with the 8" high
Apex HS support core of individually wrapped pocket
coils. These titanium alloy coils are designed to respond independently to minimize motion disturbance and relieve pressure points, the principle reasons why so many mattress manufacturers are using them.
SolidEdge System, a high-density foam encasement, provides edge support. Benefits of this include (1) no roll-off, (2) full use of the sleeping surface, and (3) a sittable edge of the mattress. Edge support also extends the life of the comfort layers (in the case of hybrids, the comfort core). With pocket coils, it envelops the array, holding them in place.
Comfort in the
Hybrid Encourage Plush begins at the top with the
cover of
ForeverFlex™ Fabric. This is paired with 1" of
OptiCool Gel Memory Foam.
OptiCool is
memory foam which is infused with
gel and fused with Outlast, a temperature regulating substance with
PCMs first developed for NASA. Here in the top the middle third is the
CoreSupport Center for additional support under the heaviest part of the body.
Below this is 1" of
OptiPro Memory Foam, which is more responsive than regular memory foam.
OptPro is designed to quickly adjust to a sleeper's change of position.
Following is 2"
SuperSoft ActiveFlex layer.
ActiveFlex, a high resilience
foam, serves to transition from coil support to foam cushioning.
For the
foundation,
Sealy provides the
StayTight Foundation Cover, which keeps the mattress and the sheets in place. Recommended foundations are
platforms or
adjustable beds, such as the
Reflexion 4 Adjustable Base.
