At 10" high, Nature - Talalay Active is the second lowest model of latex mattress in the ActiveFusion Collection by Pure Talalay Bliss. It is 2" higher than the 8" Pamper, and 1" lower tha the 11" Nutrition. Others in this new collection are Custom Choice (12"), Beautiful (12"), and World's Best Bed (13").
Like all other ActiveFusion models except Custom Choice, it is an upgrade of an earlier model of the same name in the former Natural Collection. Like Pamper and Beautiful, it also had a version in the All-Natural Collection.
The signature feature of of Nature - Talalay Active and the other members of the ActiveFusion Collection (listed on the PTB website simply as the "Mattress Collection") is ActiveFusion temperature regulation. This involves both the cover and the top pressure relief latex layer. Phase change materials (PCMs) are embedded into fibers in the cover fabric and blended into the pressure relief latex. Talalay Global, the parent company of Pure Talalay Bliss, produces latex with blended-in PCMs. It is sold to other manufacturers under the trade name of Celsion.
Nature - Talalay Active is a three-layer mattress with a 6" support core and two 2" pressure relief layers. By contrast, the last previous version of Nature had only two layers, 6" support and 4" pressure relief. Two comfort layers allows for more fine-tuning of the feel of the mattress.
The support core of Nature is extra firm Talalay latex. This provides overall support, stabilizing the more flexible layers above.
The cover fabric of the Nature Talalay Active is a blend of rayon and lycra (Spandex). About ⅔ to ¾ of the cellulose in the rayon is from wood pulp, the rest from other plant sources. Some of the fibers in the fabric are embedded with phase change materials to keep the temperature even.
The yarn is stretch-knit into a wave-form pattern (see photo). This covers the mattress in a waterfall pattern (the top material spills over onto the border). The texture of the fabric makes it more breathable and more conformable.
Because of the strength of latex, it will work on almost any foundation offering solid support. Examples of these are closely spaced slatted frames, platform beds and solid-top bases, and adjustable beds. The base must be sturdy enough for the weight of this mattress, since latex tends to be heavy. Box springs are definitely not recommended. Pure Talalay Bliss recommends the KD foundation made by Ironwood Bed Frames.
Nature is available at retailers carrying Pure Talalay Bliss products. The non-prorated warranty covers 15 years.
