The HealthRest TempaGel Collection is one of two collections in the current HealthRest line of mattresses by the Restonic Mattress Corporation. The other is the HealthRest Latex Collection. While some of the original HealthRest mattresses may have had innerspring support, the current line consists of foam core mattresses.
The signature feature of Restonic HealthRest TempaGel memory foam mattresses is TempaGel, Restonic's proprietary formulation of gel memory foam, which is also found in the ComfortCare Signature Collection of innerspring mattresses. Gel is introduced into the memory foam before its inflation. This infusion of gel is to enhance memory foam's conformity and support for pressure relief and support of the spine. Gel combines with the open-cell configuration of the foam to keep it from getting too warm. Restonic claims that this "Moderates temperature variances throughout the night." The intent of this is to reduce tosing and turning, which interfere with restful sleep. In several models, this is 2¾" thick.
The key to temperature regulation of mattresses in the HealthRest TempaGel Collection is Thermocool™ Technology. Restonic says this "Proactively regulates temperature so no more shivering or shucking blankets throughout the night," and it "Keeps sheets, bedding and mattress fresher, longer." This is accomplished with the incorporation of Outlast into the upper level of the mattresses. Outlast is fibers infused into the cover fabric and/or quilting and comfort layer foams. This temperature-regulating material contains phase change materials. These change their physical state to keep temperatures within a specified range.
The AirFlow Edge is another component of controlling the climate of the HealthRest TempaGel mattress. This supporting edge of the mattress foams is ventilated for air to flow through. The side panels (border) of the cover are also breathable, letting air flow into and out of the mattress.
The support core of HealthRest TempaGel mattresses is high-density polyurethane foam. This is described as eco-friendly, meaning that a significant portion of the oils used to make the foam are plant-based.
Mattresses in the HealthRest TempaGel Collection are available through several retailers, locally and online. Warranties are for 15 years, and some retailers have a 120-night sleep trial period.
Being memory foam mattresses, suitable foundations for models in the HealthRest TempaGel Collection are platform beds and bases, European wood slats, and adjustable beds. The traditional old-style box springs are generally not acceptable for foam-core mattresses. However, since the term is widely used, many retailers call their platform foundations "box springs."
