The "baby" of Savvy Rest's organic mattresses is the Savvy Baby Natural Crib latex mattress, measuring only 27½" long by 52" wide and 6" high.
The core of the Savvy Baby is a 5" thick firm layer of Dunlop natural latex. Latex is known for its resiliency. It is also resistant to mold, bacteria and dust mites.
The latex core of the Savvy Baby crib mattress is enclosed in a Savvy Rest casing, which consists of organic wool batting quilted between two sheets of organic cotton.
The drive for the design of this mattress comes from the goal of Savvy Rest's founder to provide a sleeping environment free from harmful substances. The organic cotton is grown and processed without pesticides, chemical fertilizers, bleaches and toxic dyes. The wool is shorn from sheep who have not been dipped, and it has been washed without chemicals. With tight wool batting, chemical flame retardants are not needed to meet federal fire safety standards. And the all-natural latex does not contain synthetic rubber.
Savvy Rest also produces the natural wool Savvy Baby Mattress Pad. This pad is "densely woven" so it can protect the mattress from moisture. It can be washed by hand and drip-dried.
The not-too-expensively-priced Savvy Baby Natural Crib Mattress is warrantied for 20 years. This may seem like a long time for a crib mattress, but it could concievably serve all the children born into the family, an also be available for nieces and nephews as well as infants of other families staying for a night.
