The Tranquility is the lowest priced current model of all-latex mattresses by Savvy Rest. This 7" model has two 3" layers of latex for a total of 6"), in contrast to three layers (9") in the Serenity latex mattress and four (12") in the Unity Pillowtop.
The latex used in the Tranquility is 100% natural rubber latex (NRL) from rubber tree sap, as in all Savvy Rest latex mattresses. According to one retailer, Eco-Sleep Solutions, Savvy Rest uses as much NRL in their latex as can be made into foam. The Dunlop latex is made in Kerala, India by Cocalatex, and the Talalay latex in Belgium by Radium Foam.
The Tranquilty organic latex mattress is fitted into a casing with a cover of organic cotton quilted to organic wool batting. The batting is more than padding. It also serves as a natural fire retardant, avoiding the use of deleterious chemicals. This casing/cover is closed with a brass zipper, making brass the only non-organic component of the Savvy Rest Tranquility. For cleaning the cover, only spot cleaning with lanolin soap is recommended. Use of a mattress protector is strongly suggested.
When customers order a Tranquility mattress, they choose whether the layers are Dunlop or Talalay latex, both of one type or mixed. They also choose the overall firmness by selecting the firmness (Soft, Medium of Firm) of each layer. For Queen sized and over mattresses, the selections can be different for the two sides, customized for each of two sleepers.
With the Tranquility (as well as the other Savvy Rest models), the mattress is shipped in kit form and assembled at the destination.
Recommended foundations for use with the Savvy Rest Tranquility organic mattress are an upholstered slatted wood base (like the one made by Savvy Rest), a platform bed (Savvy Rest sells several) and an adjustable bed (the company sells the Reverie 7S Supreme Adjustable Foundation.
The Tranquility is covered by Savvy Rest for 20 years. Savvy Rest also has a 90-day sleep trial period. This model is available through the 100+ retailers carrying Savvy Rest mattresses.
