Sealy Brand Latex Foam Collection

Sealy has been known for its innerspring mattresses, but now it also has non-spring foam mattresses (also known as "specialty sleep" products). Each of Sealy's brands includes some all-foam models, and one brand, Optimum, is entirely specialty mattresses. The Sealy Brand has one innerspring collection, Traditional, and two specialty collections, Gel Memory Foam and Latex Foam.

Latex mattresses were introduced by Sealy under the Sealy Brand as part of the Comfort Series under the model name Embody. As part of this year's revamping of the Sealy lineup, the Comfort Series and Embody are no longer listed on Sealy.com, but there is the Latex Foam Collection. Sealy Brand Latex Foam mattresses have multiple layers of latex, softer comfort layer(s) on top for plushness, and the firmer support layer below.

Comfort Layer - All natural latex is resilient, and latex foam is breathable. The latex in Sealy mattresses is made from rubber tree sap, and is hypo-allergenic and resistant to dust mite, mildew and mold. Being resilient, the latex foam will yield initially, then become more firm, providing a contouring conformity similar to that of visco-elastic memory foam, including relief from pressure points. Sealy says, "Latex gives you the feeling of sleeping 'on' your mattress, not 'in' it." When the weight on latex is removed, it resumes its original shape almost instantly.

Support Layer - High density, high resiliency latex constitutes the support core of Sealy Brand Latex Foam mattresses. Sealy has been known for the "deep down" support of its innerspring mattresses. They claim that kind of support from their latex support core.

The sides of the Latex Foam mattresses are strengthened by Sealy's Edge Support System. In combination with latex resiliency, this provides even support, making the entire sleeping surface usable, even for sitting on the edge.

According to Sealy, the Latex Foam mattress sets come with standard height (9") or low profile (5") box springs, which raises the question of how well they support the latex mattresses, unless these are configured especially for foam mattresses. Adjustable beds are also suggested by Sealy.

Mattresses in the Sealy Brand Latex Foam Collection are available in the following sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Full XL, Queen, King, California King. They have a warranty of up to 10 years. There are Sealy dealers all across the country. If you don't see Sealy Brand Latex Foam mattresses, ask about them.

Individual Latex Foam models are not named on the Sealy site, but model names can vary with the dealers. Available comfort levels are Firm, Cushion-Firm, Plush, and Ultra-Plush.
