Optimum Desire
The
Optimum Desire is an Extra Plush model under the
Sealy Posturepedic Optimum brand of
Sealy mattresses. Whereas the
Destiny is the entry level model,
Desire is next to the top.
As with the other
Optimum models,
Desire features the use of three
Sealy Optimum foams:
OptiCool® Memory Foam,
OptiSense® Memory Foam, and
OptiCore™
Plus Support Foam.
OptiCool® is
memory foam which has been infused with gel, in other words it is a gel memory foam. The gel carries heat away from the sleeping surface. This reverses the tendency of memory foam to build up body heat from the sleepers and become too warm. In the 2" quilted top layer, the
OptiCool® is fused to
Outlast fibers. The
Outlast fibers contain Phase Change Materials, which change their physical state, liquifying or solidifying to keep the temperature within the desired range.
OptiSense® is a memory foam which has been engineered to maximize the conformity for which memory foam is known. With
OptiSense®, it is called "body hugging" as it conforms to body contours.
OptiCore™
Plus constitutes the 6" support core. Very firm, it provides orthopedic support for the back. It also undergirds the memory foams above, preventing sagging. Additionally, the
OptiCore™
Plus is the edge support for the entire mattress.
Optimum Desire is a pillowtop mattress. The pillow top has 2" of
OptiCool and 1" of
OptiSense. From here on down are 1" of
OptiCool, 3" of
OptiSense, and 6" of
OptiCore™
Plus.
Sealy recommends its
Optimum Foundation box spring for the
Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Desire. This is available in the 9" standard height or the 5" low-profile. The
Desire also works with an adjustable bed, such as the
Optimum Reflexion adjustable base.
This mattress comes with
Sealy's 25-year warranty.
