Sealy Optimum Destiny

Destiny is the firmest mattress in Sealy's Optimum Brand (also known as "Sealy Posturepedic Optimum"). The Optimum line is a series of gel memory foam mattresses. Memory foam is a visco-elastic material which responds to a sleeper's weight and heat to conform the the body's contours. This provides even support for the body, which relieves pressure points.

OptiCool™ gel memory foam, the key feature of the Optimum Destiny, is memory foam which is infused with gel. This gel serves as a heat sink. It absorbs heat and conducts it away from the sleeping surface to where it can be dissipated. This cools the sleeping surface so it will not get too hot for comfort.

Sealy's memory foam in this series employs what Sealy calls Optisense™. This is a proprietary formulation to configure the memory foam properties to Sealy's specifications. In addtion to conformity, memory foam also dampens motion transfer, reducing or eliminating sleeping partner disturbance. The Sealy Optimum Destiny has a 1" layer of Optisense™ immediately under the top layer of OptiCool™ gel memory foam. The thickness of this layer is what distinguishes Sealy Optimum from each other, with Destiny having the thinnest.

The support core of Sealy Posturpedic Optimum mattresses, including Destiny, is Sealy's OptiCore™, a 6" block of very firm foam. This support material provides support for the entire sleeping surface, complementing the cushioning conformity of the gel memory foam. While the memory foam relieves pressure points, the OptiCore™ helps with spinal alignment. Additionally, it is supposed to serve as edge support without a separate perimeter encasement.

The sleeping surface itself employs Outlast®, a technology developed by Outlast Technologies to regulate temperatures in clothing worn by astronauts, outdoor workers and athletes. One property of Outlast® is moisture wicking, which helps keep the sleeping surface dry. The Outlast® is fused with the OptiCool™ at the surface to optimize the cooling effect.

The cover of the Sealy Optimum Destiny is blended polyester-acrylic fabric with foam-fiber batting.

Two foundations are recommended for use with the Sealy Posturepedic Optimum Destiny mattress, One is the Optimum™ Foundation, which is a box spring designed expressly for Optimum brand models. It is available in either of two heights, 9" or 5.25". Also available is an adjustable bed, Sealy's Reflexion.

Sealy Posturpedic Optimum mattresses, including the Destiny, carry a 25-year warranty. The Sealy Optimum Destiny is available through several national, regional and local retailers across the United States and Canada, both on-site and online.
