The Regal Collection by SensorPEDIC has two memory foam mattresses: the 12-Inch Regal Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress and the 10-Inch Regal Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress. SensorPEDIC has another mattress, the 8 inch Classic Memory Foam Mattress in the Classic Collection.
Both of these, have memory foam infused with gel in the top comfort layer. The gel is supposed to enhance support while helping to keep the mattress cool.
What sets the 12-Inch Regal apart is SensorAIR Foam in the quilt. This mattress is a euro top model, with the extra 1" layer at the top of the mattress. SensorAIR is a type of gel-infused memory foam. SensorPEDIC says this 3-lb. foam "Creates a cloud-like therapeutic pressure-relieving comfort layer." The SensorAIR is quilted to the cover.
The cover fabric of the 12-Inch Regal Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress is a blend of polyester, rayon and cotton. Called COOLcloth, this material lets air flow through for cooling and relief of moisture. The quilting includes a fire blocker in addition to the SensorAIR Foam under the top panel.
The VentAIR border of the cover is designed to facilitate the movement of air into and out of the mattress. This works with the iCOOL system to keep the heat down.
iCool also includes ventilated open-cell foam and a heat dissipation layer. This fabric layer lets air flowing through the foam layers above exit through the VentAIR border.
Besides the SensorAIR in the euro top, the 12" Regal has a comfort layer. This is 3-lb. gel-infused SensorFOAM memory foam, an open-cell foam with vertical pores. Memory foam is used to relieve pressure on large body parts, such as the shoulders and hips. Memory foam aslo supports recessed areas, such as the lower back. The gel is infused into the foam for both support enhacement and cooling, though research indicates that the cooling function is limited by how much heat the gel can absorb.
The 9" support core of the 12-Inch Regal mattress is heavy duty polyurethane foam. This supplies basic support for the sleepers and stabilizes the softer foams above.
Retailers of the 12" Regal also sell solid-top box foundations (sometimes mis-labeled as box springs) and adjustable beds. Platform beds are also suitable with this mattress.
The 12-Inch Regal Gel-Infused Memory Foam Mattress is covered by SensorPEDIC with a 20-year limited warranty. Compare this to Tempur-Pedic's 10-year warranty.
