In 2015, Serta updated its Perfect Sleeper Collection. This collection now has 16 models. Fourteen of these are innerspring mattresses, and the remaining two are memory foam mattresses.
Three coil systems are used in the innerspring models: Classic 520, Flex 704, and Individual Advantage 886. The first two are versions of Serta's signature continuous coils, known for firm support essential for spinal support. This is the type of coil which earned Perfect Sleeper mattresses the endorsement of the National Sleep Foundation. Continuous coils are also known for their durability, with many mattresses maintaining their support for two decades.
The Flex 704 is Serta's FreeFlex design, in which the tops of the coils are allowed to respond separately for conformity and motion isolation, while they are still connected at the bottom for stability and durability.
The Individual Advantage units are composed of wrapped pocket coils. Pocket wrapping the coils lets them be clustered more closely for a higher coil count. Pocket coils also have the advantage of greatest conformity and motion isolation of any coil type. Comformity to body contours reduces pressure on large joints and maintains support for recessed body areas, such as the lower spine.
Conformity and motion isolation are also hallmarks of memory foam. The two memory foam models have a Comfort Last Foam Core, Serta's high-resilience polyurethane foam support layer.
The comfort layers of the 2015 Serta Perfect Sleeper mattresses are all foams infused with liquid gel. The gel is for support modification and initial cooling. In the Classic 520 models, this is comfort grade polyurethane foam. In the Flex, Individual Advantage and Foam models, it is memory foam.
The continuous coil construction of the Classic 520 innerspring supplies edge support for the sleeping surface. The other models have Serta's foam encasement, Total Edge, for the innerspring models and Ultimate Edge for the memory foam models.
Serta has simplified the firmness choices for their Perfect Sleeper mattress collection to four: Firm, Plush, Pillow Top, and Memory Foam.
The model names for the innerspring Perfect Sleeper mattresses are Reedsworth, Pennyfield, Lenmore, Kirchner, and Harrowby. These names are in order of their heights, 14½" to 9½". The highest have the pocket coils and the lowest the Classic, while Flex models are in the middle. The memory foam models are Howerton and Kilingsworth, 12" and 10" respectively.
Model names may be different for some models at some retailers. These mattresses are moderately priced. They are compatible with box foundations, platform beds, and adjustable beds. The Serta warranty is for 10 years, non-prorated.
