Sleep Science 10" Emma
Sleep Science describes its 10" Emma mattress as providing "therapeutic comfort." The Emma stacks medium/firm visco memory foam on an "Air Comfort" foam layer and a very firm polyurethane foam base. This triple-layered mattress is then wrapped in a removeable jacquard knit cover. The graduated firmness of the layers is to combine conforming comfort with support, what Sleep Science calls a "conforming top layer with medium support."
The 3-inch top layer of the Sleep Science 10-inch Emma is visco-elastic memory foam with a 3-lb. density. According to Sleep Science, this medium firm foam has a 99.99% foam recovery rate. Memory foam is sensitive not only to weight, but also to body heat. Therefore, its response may vary from one individual to another.
The conforming memory foam in the Emma is supported by the patented 3"x3" Wedge edge supporting system, a triangular wedge of very firm foam around the entire edge of the memory foam layer.
The middle layer of the Sleep Science Emma mattress is called the Air Comfort Layer. It is a foam with a larger cell structure to permit air to flow through it to offset heat accumulated by the memory foam. This dissipation of heat is to yield a cooler sleeping experience for the user.
The base layer is made of high density polyurethane foam. This firm material prevents sagging by the conforming memory foam. This guards against spinal and joint stress as well as extending the lifetime of the memory foam. This is designed so that while memory foam relieves pressure points, the support preserves proper spinal alignment.
The polyester jacquard knit cover of the Sleep Science 10" Emma has a velour finish and is treated to be hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites. It also meets Federal open-flame flammability standards.
The Emma is listed on Costco as "Sleep Science 10" Memory Foam Mattress" and Costco.ca (Canada) as "Emma 25.4-cm." It has a 20-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects. The Sleep Science 10" Emma is also listed on Electropedic and the sites of its retailers.
