The Sleep Therapy Collection is, in efect, the first collection of mattresses by Sleep Therapy (Wickline Bedding), a California mattress manufacturer owned by Stylution, a major Chinese marketer of bedding. The company calls this collection "America's original No Turn Mattresses." The advertised signature attributes of this collection are, "Targets key pressure points, Supports critical areas from the neck to the knee, and Promotes healthy spines."
The Sleep Therapy website does not have a timeline by which to pinpoint when the No Turn mattresses were introduced. Innerspring mattresses had been two-sided by default, with the same padding and cover on either side of the Bonnell coils.
At some point, one-sided no-turn (no-flip) mattresses became popular, partly for economic reasons, partly for practical reasons. As more comfort layers were added to mattresses for plushness, cost became an issue. Cutting the cost of padding nearly in half, making a mattress one-sided made the more luxurious mattress more affordable. Adding padding also made the mattress higher. A no-turn mattress is not as high, making it easier to get into and out of bed. Also, a bulkier, heavier mattress is harder to turn.
Now more two-sided mattresses are coming to market. Being two-sided increases the usable life of a mattress. Also, some manufacturers use two-sided models to offer an in-home choice of firmness–keep the side you like on top. However, no-flip mattresses are still popular, both for cost and with higher models.
There are four models in the Sleep Therapy Collection: Horizon Plush, Harmony, Horizon Firm, and Destiny. They all share the same innerspring, 696 pocket coils in Queen size. Pocket coils respond independently for pressure relief, spinal support and motion isolation.
Around the innerspring is a 3" thick foam encasement to align the pocket coils and to support the edge of the sleeping surface.
All four Sleep Therapy Collection mattresses have 4-way stretch quilted knit covers. One model, Harmony, has Elastan (aka Lycra) for additional stretchability. The quilting in these mattresses is almost the same across the collection. All have "Virgin Hypo Allergenic Fiber." Horizon Plush and Harmony add three layers of Comfort Foam, Destiny adds one, and Horizon Firm adds one layer of Support Foam.
For the upholstery (comfort layers), all Sleep Therapy Collection models have a layer of memory foam. The Horizon Plush has one layer of comfort foam, pillowtop Harmony has two. Horizon Firm has just the memory foam, while Destiny adds a layer of support foam.
The supplied foundation for the Sleep Therapy Collection is a wood frame foundation (also called a "box spring" though is is not). These mattresses can also be used on adjustable beds, European wood slat bases, and platform beds.
The warranty on Sleep Therapy Collection mattresses is for 10 years, non-prorated.
