Stearns & Foster Estate Collection
The
Estate Collection is one of four collections by
Stearns & Foster, a division of
Sealy (now part of
Tempur-Sealy International). The other collections are
Lux Estate,
Lux Estate Hybrid, and
Signature. All
Stearns and Foster models are considered luxury
mattresses.
Each mattress in the
Estate Collection features the
IntelliCoil®
Encased Coil support system,
StabiLux Edge System, solid brass
PrimaFlow air vents, high gram-weight, natural-fiber upholstery, and
covers with
OUTLAST®,
silk and cashmere.
IntelliCoil
Support in
Stearns & Foster Estate Collection mattresses is provided by the
IntelliCoil®
Encased Coil support system. These are individually wrapped dual
pocket coils. Dual coils, which were developed and patented by
Sealy, have a coil-in-coil design. Both coils are made from a single wire. The taller outer coil with fewer turns has a softer response. The shorter inner coil has more turns and a firmer response. This staged response is why
S&F labelled it "IntelliCoil." These coils are made from a resilient, durable and corrosion-resistant titanium alloy.
StabiLux
Stearns & Foster's
StabiLux™
Edge System is unique in combining two means of edge support for the mattress. This begins with foam encasement perimeter support around the
IntelliCoil support unit. Most pocket coil mattresses (and some foam mattresses) depend on this for edge support for the sleeping surface. To this
S&F has added a perimeter rod at the surface to ensure edge support for the top, combining the old (rod) and the new (foam).
Cover & Upholstery
The
PrimaCool™
cotton cover fabric for
Stearns & Foster Estate Collection mattresses is "infused" with silk and cashmere. Silk is durable and smooth. Cashmere adds softness, and actually softens as it ages. Cashmere also wicks moisture away, keeping the surface dry.
Temperature control is provided by
OUTLAST® in the upper upholstery.
OUTLAST was developed for use by
NASA in space suits and to protect delicate instruments from temperature extremes. It contains
Phase Change Materials (PCMs), which keep temperatures within a designated range.
PCMs do this by changing their physical state to absorb or release heat as needed.
The cover on the sides of
Stearns & Foster Estate mattresses utilizes the
PrimaFlow™
Vent System for cooling and freshness.
PrimaFlow™ uses solid brass vents in the border to allow air to flow in and out. Movement of users acts as a pump, forcing air out and drawing it in.
Comfort Layers
The
foam comfort layers of
Estate Collection mattresses consist of
PrimaCool™
Gel Memory Foam,
PrimaSense™
Gel Foam and
PrimaCore™
Comfort.
PrimaCool™ is
memory foam infused with
gel. It ranges from ½" to 1½" in height. The memory foam conforms to a sleeper's body contours for a cradling sensation, while the gel enhances support while having a cooling effect.
PrimaSense™ is gel-infused high-density foam, from 1" to 3½" thick. Not as conforming as the
PrimaCool, it transitions to firmer support below.
PrimaCore is a special gel foam layer with extra foam in the central third for more support there.
Comfort Levels
There are many model names for
Stearns & Foster Estate Collection mattresses, depending on the retailer. However, there are four comfort levels:
Ultra Firm,
Luxury Firm,
Luxury Cushion Firm, and
Luxury Plush. These levels are achieved by the heights and densities of the foams used.
Ultra Firm has a stiff-feeling surface.
Luxury Firm tempers the stiffness with quilting.
Luxury Cushion Firm exhibits more softness, but still has a lot of support at the surface.
Luxury Plush combines deep support with "enveloping softness."
Foundations
Stearns & Foster provides two
foundations for their
Estate Collection mattresses.
The
Reflexion 7 Adjustable Power Base is an
adjustable bed supplied by
Mantua and made by
Customatic. It is the equivalent of
Mantua's
Rize Contemporary Adjustable PowerBase (the same as
Customatic's
Sectional-5).
The
Reflexion UP Foundation is a flat
platform bed with an adjustable head which can be raised to a sitting position. The frame is upholstered to match or complement the mattress. Having an approved foundation is required by the warranty.
Warranty
Mattress in the
Estate Collection by
Stearns & Foster carry a 10-year non-prorated warranty.
Availability
Estate Collection mattresses are available in four sizes:
Full,
Queen,
King and
California King. They are available through several retailers, nations to local, online and in stores. Some retailers do not carry all the sizes.
