According to some industry news articles, the Unite collection of four hybrid mattresses is a "new" collection introduced by Symbol Mattress Company at the 2015 Summer Market in Las Vegas. This is actually a renewed collection. Two years previously, Symbol listed four Unite models. Two of those, Unite-Renew and Unite-Rejuvenate, are in the current collection, while Unite-Inspire and Unite-Connect are new models. The dropped models are Unite Relax and Unite Refresh. The two remaining mattresses are updated models, indicated by hyphenating their names.
In the reorganization of Symbol Mattress offerings, there are only three series. The Unite collection is in the Contemporary Series. It is the only group in this series of mattresses with coil springs. These models are here because they are hybrids. The Premium Series consists of innerspring mattresses with pocket coils. A Traditional Series mattress has one of two versions of offset coils.
In 2013, Symbol described the collection this way, which is not far off the current line-up::
Unite is a series of mattresses that are called hybrids. These mattresses combine our gel memory foam and enclosed coil system for a sleep that will rejuvenate, refresh and relax you. Hybrid mattresses offer the best features of the industry in one bed; the comfort of memory foam with the support of an innerspring.
Currently on Symbol Mattress's website, only three of these models are listed: Renew, Connect and Inspire. Unfortunately, several details are not given, such as mattress heights, cover fabrics, and relative thicknesses of layers. But some of these are available elsewhere. For instance, each model in the collection has a different top panel fabric, at least in the visible design.
Unite mattresses feature two kinds of coils. Primary support relies on an innerspring of individually wrapped pocket coils. At least two of the models, Inspire and Rejuvenate, have a layer of microcoils. Above the pocket coil support unit is a second support unit of polyurethane foam. Additionally, there are comfort layers. Inspire and Rejuvenate are described as having "coil-on-coil" design. Practically, judging by the use of the term across several mattress brands, this does not always have one coil layer next to the other. Micro-coils are most often found among the comfort layers.
Symbol describes the pocket coils as "six-sided," suggesting that they are nested in a hexagonal array.
The pocket coil support core is encased by foam. This holds the independent pocket coils in place. Foam encasement is also a type of edge support, keeping the edge of the sleeping surface from collapsing.
Comfort layers include memory foam and gel-infused memory foam. Memory foam, pocket coils and micro-coils are each highly conforming, promising pressure relief and spinal support.
Unite-Rejuvenate is the highest level model in this collection, followed by Unite-Inspire, Unite-Connect and Unite-Renew.
Symbol mattresses, including those in the Unite collection, are covered with a 10-year warranty.
