Technogel Armonia
Technogel Sleeping introduced the
Armonia early in 2013. The
Armonia is a latex mattress with a comfort layer of
Technogel, a gel material developed by the German company Bayer Material Science. According to
Technogel, "The Armonia is ideal for those seeking a firm feel with even pressure distribution and a cool sleep surface."
Support for the users of the
Technogel Armonia is primarily found in the Talalay latex core. Latex is used for its resiliency. This latex is said to give the
Armonia a slightly firmer feel than the
Technogel Estasi+. The
Technogel Armonia is assembled in the USA, fusing the latex core to the 0.5"
Technogel layer, which is made in Italy.
Technogel is a unique type of gel, originally developed by Bayer Material Science for use in medical products to reduce and/or prevent pressure sores.
Technogel Sleeping was formed to develop and market industrial and consumer products using this material. A major advantage of
Technogel is its 3-dimensional deformation. When an object rests on gel, the gel is deformed in all three dimensions, pushing out horizontally as well as down. On foam, the weighty object sinks down and pulls the surface in. With
Technogel, the material contours itself to the sleeper's body, providing full support.
Technogel has a unique surface design. It is rows of "towers" with square bases arrayed in a grid. These towers vary in height to form different zones corresponding to areas of the sleeper's body. This
Technogel layer both moderates and augments the support of the latex. A film of polyurethane counters the natural stickyness of gel, making it less adhesive.
Gel, including
Technogel, has cooling properties. It conducts heat away from the sleeping surface of the bed to where it can be dissipated. The cooling effect is enhanced in the
Technogel Armonia by the tower configuration of
Technogel, which allows air to circulate. Besides cooling, this design also ventilates the mattress.
The zippered cover of the
Technogel Armonia mattress has a "designer look." It is removable and washable.
The
Technogel Armonia carries a 20-year warranty, with the first 10 years non-rrorated and the last 10 prorated.
