Technogel Piacere
The
Piacere by
Technogel Sleeping is a model with a layer of
Technogel partly covering the mattress. A 2011 article describes the currently listed
Estasi+ as an enhancement of the
Piacere, since it extends the
Technogel layer to cover the entire mattress.
The North American version of
Piacere is 10" high. The support core composition is not named, but its successor,
Estasi+, has compressed polyurethane foam from FXI (Foamex International). The tower formed
Technogel is made in Italy and the mattress is assembled in America. Searching for "Technogel Piacere" also brings up a made-in-Germany model, which is available in Europe and has different specifications.
The key feature of the
Technogel Piacere is the layer of
Technogel, a specially formulated gel molded into a grid of square towers. Though only partially covering the mattress, the
Technogel is placed under the portion of the body where it is most needed.
At 1" thick, this layer has enough gel for it to respond in a gel-like manner, according to
Technogel Sleeping. The towers are to facilitate 3-D deformation, in which an applied weight pushes the material not only down, but also out horizontally. The tower configuration of the
Technogel also promotes ventilation, making the mattress more breathable for cooling and freshness.
The fabric for the North American version of the
Technogel Piacere is not specified, but the European model has a jersey knit cover, made of a blend of fibers, and is not removable.
According to
Technogel Sleeping, the
Piacere is designed to be used with adjustable beds. However, it can be used with a full-support foundation such as a platform or European style wood slatts.
The
Technogel Piacere has a 20-year warranty with the second 10 years prorated.
