Technogel Sollievo Soft
The
Technogel Sollievo Soft is an innerspring mattress produced by
Technogel Sleeping. It is made in Italy, but assembled in the USA. This is in contrast to another Italian mattress manufacturer which ships all its mattresses for the United States and Canada directly from Italy.
The innerspring support core of the
Technogel Sollievo Soft is composed of 6-turn Swedish pocket coils made with 16 gauge wire with a coil count of 660. These pocketed coils are to respond individually to the weight upon each coil, thus conforming the contours of the sleeper's body.
The
Sollievo innerspring is fully covered with a
1/2" layer of
Technogel, which comes to about 40 pounds on a queen size mattress. This
Technogel has a tower design. The upper surface of the sheet is a grid of tapered "towers" with square bases. This enables each tower to deform in three dimensions when weight is applied. According to
Technogel Sleeping, is a “soft solid” material, with charactersitcs of both a liquid (3-D deformation) and a solid ("remembering" its original shape). The gel is coated with a polyurethane film to keep it from sticking to everything it touches.
Concerning the differences between
Technogel and other gels,
Technogel Sleeping says that
Technogel behaves like a gel, as opposed to gels stirred in with foams. This is referring to the support/conformation properties. Most other manufacturers use gel pricipally for its temperature regulating properties, which
Technogel also has.
The zippered, washable cover of the
Technogel Sollievo Soft is hypoallergenic. It is also available in more than one color, so it can be customized for seasonal themes.
The height of the
Technogel Sollievo Soft mattress is 11". It "works with an adjustable base," but it is also recommended for use with a platform. This mattress carries a 20-year warranty: full coverage for the first 10 years, then pro-rated for the next 10.
