The Broadway

The Broadway is a memory foam mattress made by Parklane Mattresses in the Portland, Oregon suburb of Beaverton. It has a Plush comfort level and is about 12" high. According to Parklane, "Support, individualized comfort, and breathability come together in this springless mattress."

Why memory foam? What memory foam is best known for is pressure relief, which is why so many companies use memory foam in their mattresses. Visco-elastic memory foam responds to the heat and weight of a user to conform to body contours. It is often used in the comfort layers of innerspring mattresses and in mattress toppers. Now there are mattresses which are substantially memory foam, including The Broadway. Parklane Mattresses says that their memory foam mattresses "use cool sleep memory foam, which is designed to sleep 8 times cooler than traditional memory foam mattresses." The "feel" of a memory foam mattress is configured by selecting the density and resiliency of the foams used in it. Parklane uses at least five different weights of memory foam, ranging from 3 to 8 lbs. In The Broadway, Parklane also uses memory foam which is infused with gel, a now common means for cooling a material which otherwise build up heat. This is usually combined with open-cell structure and/or ventilating pores.

The Broadway also uses Aerus Natural® Memory Foam, developed and made by FXI (aka Foamex International). It is described by FXI as "the broadest line of breathable and green memory foams in the foam industry." FXI cites its breathablility, range of densities, and the use of botanical substances, such as soy oil, in its manufacture.

According to Parklane Mattresses, the foams used in The Broadway are:
- Highly resilient plant-derived base foam (3.5")
- High density plant-derived support foam (2.5")
- Gel memory foam (2 layers)
- Aerus Natural® Memory Foam (1 layer)
In answer to a question, MM of Parklane mentions "The layer of CoolSleep memory foam." Judging by the list in the product description, this must be the Aerus.

Parklane Mattresses makes a wood slat foundation suitable for The Broadway. It comes in two heights: 9" Standard and 4" Low Profile. This model is also adjustable bed compatible, and Parklane carries two models, the Freestyle and the Sectional 6.

The Broadway carries the Parklane Mattresses 25-year Platinum Warranty: full coverage for 25 years against all manufacturing defects with no charges for repairs or replacement.
