The Irving is one of eight models currently listed by Parklane Mattresses in their Offset Coil Mattresses category. The other Parklane Offset Coil models are The Alder, The Cornell, The Lovejoy, The Morrison, The Quimby, The Stanton, and The Tillamook. These innerspring mattresses feature a support unit of offset coils with foam encasement, foam comfort layers, a felt transition layer, and a HD foam base pad. One model, The Lovejoy, also features a comfort layer of microcoils. The Irving is the middle model of this collection.
The innerspring unit of The Irving is offset coils with a coil count of over 600 in the queen size mattress. These 14-gauge coils offer deep support. They are more conforming than Bonnell coils and continuous coils, and also transfer less motion from one side of the mattress to the other. The conformity provides some relief from pressure points, a major cause of discomfort while sleeping. This also helps the sleeper with spinal alignment. For more conformity and motion isolation, consider Parklane Mattress's Marshall Coil models.
Around the offset coil core of The Irving is foam encasement for side protection of the coils and edge support for the sleeping surface. This is to prevent rolling off the bed because of edge collapse. It also makes the edge suitable for sitting while making it easier to get into and out of bed.
Under the innerspring is a 2" thick high-density soy-foam base pad. This plant-based polyurethane foam pad protects the bottom of the coils. It also is a shock absorber, dampening the rebound of sudden dropping of weight onto the bed.
Atop the offset coil innerspring is a cotton felt transition layer. This protects the foam from the springs and vice versa.
Parklane Mattresses tags The Irving as "Support, pressure point relief and exceptional comfort night after night." The comfort layers are Preserve® Memory Foam on top and a 1" layer of HD plant-based foam. The open-cell memory foam is designed to provide even support to the entire length of the user's body for less pressure and better spinal posture while allowing airflow for cooling. The HD plant foam provides supportive cushioning. Together, the comfort layers bring The Irving to 12" high.
The cover of of The Irving is polyester knit with a non-chemical fire protection layer. The top panel has a wavy print and is quilted. The side panels are a plaid of browns, tans and cream, matching the upholstery on the foundation.
The Irving can be purchased with Parklane Mattresses's upholstered all-wood slat foundation. The 14 slats (10 in Twin sizes) are reinforced heavily. Parklane claims that this is the most heavily reinforced wood foundation in the industry. The Irving can also be used with the Freestyle and Sectional 6 adjustable beds by Customatic, which are also carried in Parklane Mattresses Stores.
The Irving can be seen and tested at Parklane Mattresses Stores in the greater Portland, Oregon area, including Vancouver, Washington. It can be purchased as mattress only or as a set with the Parklane foundation. The available sizes are Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King and California King.
