The Pettygrove is one of six innerspring mattresses in the Marshall Coil Mattresses collection by Parklane Mattresses, a bedding manufacturer and retailer in the Portland, Orgon area. The other five models in this collection are The Belmont, The Hawthorne, The Hoyt, The Prescott, and The Westover. All of these are handcrafted in Tualatin, a Portland suburb.
The Pettygrove is one of two models named after the co-founders of Portland (the other model is The Lovejoy). Reportedly, the name of the city was determined by a coin toss: the winner was from Portland, Maine.
The banner qualities of The Pettygrove are "pressure point relief, customized comfort and reduced motion transfer." This model features HD soy foam in the base, foam encasement, Marshall coil support core, and a latex comfort layer.
The innerspring of The Pettygrove relies on 884 individually wrapped pocket coils. Also called Marshall coils (after their inventor, James Marshall), these coils respond independently, each to the immediate pressure placed directly on it. Thus, they are highly conforming. This coil design provides the most pressure relief. Marshall coils are also best for eliminating motion transfer, minimizing partner disturbance.
Marshall coils are narrower than offset, continuous or Bonnell coils, therefore the coil counts are naturally higher than in the Offset Coil Mattresses (500 and 600). Individually these coils are lighter, but their numbers add up in overall support.
Foam encasement around the innerspring helps hold the pocket coil array in place. It also serves as edge support for the sleeping surface.
The comfort core of The Pettygrove is a single layer of Talatech, Parklane's Talalay process blend of 85% natural and 15% synthetic latex. Latex is very resilient, yielding to user weight, but quickly rebounding on release of pressure. Not only this, but latex is antimicrobial, antifungal and hypoallergenic, as well as breathable. Additionally, latex is biodegradable.
The 2" base pad of The Pettygrove consists of high-density soy foam. This pad supports and protects the Marshall coils on the bottom. Use of soy oil in the foam reduces odors and the use of petroleum derivatives.
The top cover of The Pettygrove is a rich polyester damask knit, while the sides are brown and cream plaid, matching the upholstery on the foundation.
Parklane makes a wood platform foundation with reinforced slats, The sides of this foundation are upholstered to match the broder of the Parklane mattress. It comes in two heights, 9" Standard and 4" Low Profile. This foundation fits on the adjustable steel bed frame.
Parklane also sells two adjustable beds. These are the Freestyle and the Sectional 6, designed and made by Customatic Adjustable Bedz.
A 90 Night Comfort Guarantee by Parklane Mattresses gives the customers time to get used to the bed and see if it fits their needs. Parklane also covers The Pettygrove with their 25-year Gold Warranty. The first 15 years are fully covered with no charges for repairs or replacement. The last 10 yeas are prorated.
