The Aero-Pedic CoolSleep collection of memory foam mattresses by the Parklane RV Mattresses branch of Parklane Mattresses of Oregon has two models featuring gel: The Platinum Gel CoolSleep and The Pure Gel CoolSleep. The Pure Gel is unique in this collection, because instead of memory foam it has latex. Though it is listed second on the Parklane RV Mattresses site, is is the top mattress in this collection.
The Pure Gel CoolSleep, like The Platinum Gel CoolSleep, has a 2" top layer of gel-infused foam. The gel in this foam both enhances support and cools by heat conduction. At the same time, the open-cell foam lets air percolate through for cooling and freshness.
The layer just below the gel-foam is 2" of 100% natural latex foam. Natural latex comes from the sap of the Amazonian Rubber Tree. It is whipped up and cured, making foam rubber, now usually called latex foam. Latex is very resilient and durable. It can have a lot of give, but quickly returns to its original shape when weight is lifted. Latex is also resistant to microbes and fungi. Properly washed after curing, it is hypoallergenic. It also breathes, being naturally permeable to air, making it naturally cooler than memory foam.
The support core of The Pure Gel CoolSleep RV Mattress is 6" of high-density foam, bringing the overall height of the mattress to 10 inches. This firm foam supports the rest of the mattress. It keeps the other foams from excessive unnecessary flexing, which extends their usable lifetimes. It also keeps the sleepers from feeling as though they're bottoming out.
The cover of The Pure Gel CoolSleep is soft and warm cashmere, a durable, luxurious fabric which gets softer with use. The fire barrier beneath this fabric is a layer of silica-infused rayon, a chemical-free method of meeting federal fire resistance standards for bedding.
