About The Quimby, Parklane Mattresses says, "Superior support has never felt so good." The Quimby is the successor to The Arcadia, a popular member of Parklane's Offset Coil Mattresses collection. From the bottom up, this 12" high innerspring mattress consists of the HD base pad, offset coils, felt pad, memory foam and latex comfort layers, and a quilted polyester cover.
The 2" base pad is made of soy foam. Use of soy oil polyols reduces dependence on petroleum. This also means reduction of petroleum based odors. This high density pad absorbs shock from impacts above, protecting the bottom side of the coils and cushioning the mattress as a whole.
Offset coils are valued for their combination of sturdy support and pressure relief. They conform better to the shape and weight of a sleeper than either continuous coils or Bonnell coils. They are more often found in higher value mattresses than Bonnells and continuous coils. Pocket (Marshall) coils are more conforming, but may not be as durable. If you do want more conformity with more motion isolation, consider Parklane's Marshall Coil Mattresses.
Foam encasement around the innerspring core of The Quimby protects coils from the side and provides edge support for the surface. This extends the sleeping area to the edge, prevents roll-offs, and enables sitting on the edge while easing egress and ingress.
Atop the innerspring is a layer of cotton felt. This keeps the foam from entangling the coils below. It also reduces flexing of the foam for a prolonged usable life.
The Quimby has a layer of Preserve® Memory Foam. This memory foam has a large open-cell configuration to make it more stable, and to cool and freshen through airflow. Memory foam cradles the user by first conforming to body contours to relieve pressure. It will hold this shape for a while, so it does not push back.
Two layers of latex complete the comfort section of The Quimby. Talatech is Parklane Mattresses' Talalay-processed 85/15 blend of natural and synthetic latex. Latex is highly resilient for supportive cushioning. Latex also is antimicrobial, antifungal, breathable and hypoallergenic.
The cover of The Quimby is polyester quilted to a non-chemical fire-retardant.
The Parklane Mattresses foundation is a wood-slatted reinforced platform. It is made of timber from North American forests. This foundation is available in two heights: 9" Standard and 4" Low Profile. Also availble thorugh Parklane are two adjustable beds by Customatic: the Sectional 6 and the Freestyle.
On display in Parklane Mattresses' Portland area stores, The Quimby is covered by Parklane's 25-year Gold Warranty: no charge for replacement or repairs in the first 15 years, and prorated for the remaining 10.
