PureTouch Brand
The
Therapedic PureTouch brand is a collection of mattresses made of natural latex, which the company calls "the world's most natural sleep surface." Natural latex is a product of the sap of the Brazilian rubber tree (
Havanea brasilinesis). The latex used in the
PureTouch line is made without synthetic materials. Some of the advantages of natural latex are these: it is antimcrobial, fungus resistant, dust mite resistant, resilient, and cool to the touch.
The latex in the
PureTouch mattresses is processed to have seven zones, head to toe, which correspond to seven areas of the body: head, neck, shoulders, lumbar (lower back), hips, legs, feet. The latex is configured within each zone so that the whole length of the latex conforms to the natural contours of the sleeper's body. This is to provide more support where needed while relieving pressure points.
The latex in
PureTouch models is cured using the Talalay process, which leaves an open-cell structure, which makes the mattresses breathable.
The
PureTouch brand by
has two collections consisting of ten models. The models in the PureTouch Collection are Natural Comfort Plush, Natural Essence Pillowtop, Natural Rest Extra Firm, Natural Contour Firm, Natural Serenity Plush and Natural Splendor Pillowtop. Those in the PureTouch II Collection are Natural Comfort II, Natural Serenity II, Natural Splendor II and Natural Harmony II. Made in the USA, each PureTouch mattress is crafted by hand.
Each mattress of the PureTouch brand has a stretch knit cover. The covers of Natural Comfort and Natural Essence are made of organic cotton. The rest consist of bamboo fibers. Both the organic cotton and the bamboo are sustainable resources. In addition, bamboo is naturally antimicrobial. All of these have a quilt layer, which contains Safeguard fibers (this a a non-toxic fire barrier) and foam. The composition of the foam(s) varies by model.
The support cores of Natural Comfort Plush and Natural Essence Pillowtop mattreses are 6" high and made of soy-based material. Those of the Natural Rest Extra Firm, Natural Contour Firm, Natural Serenity Plush and Natural Splendor Pillowtop mattresses are 7" of firm Talalay latex. The PureTouch II models have a 6” 1823 polyurethane foam core plus an additional inch of 1835 support foam (1823 = 1.8 lbs/cubic foot and 23 IFD, and 1835 has an IFD of 35).
The PureTouch II mattresses are enhaced versions of their namesake counterparts in the PureTouch Collection, adding one to four 2" layers of Talalay latex. The ILDs of these are progressive. The one layer in Natural Comfort II is 28 ILD. Those of the high-end Natural Harmony II range from 14 to 28.
Mattresses in the Therapedic PureTouch brand carry a 20-year, full, non-prorated warranty. The recommended foundations are heavy-duty with full support for the heavy latex mattresses. They are also compatible with heavy-duty adjustable bases.
