TheraTouch series of mattresses by Corsicana Bedding (not the same as similarly named models made by other manufacturers) are memory foam models. Since retailers select model names for Corsicana mattresses, the model name may not always correspond to the exact manufacturer's lines, and some retailers seem to include models from both of Corsicana's Memory Foam and Cool Reflections Gel lines. In either case, these are not innerspring mattresses, but have high-density foam support cores.
TheraTouch models feature a comfort layer of memory foam, or in the case of some models one of Corsicana's gel-infused memory foams, such as Cool Reflection or Cool Max. The primary role of memory foam is to conform to body contours to relieve pressure points by spreading support evenly so that a few points of the body do not bear most of the body's weight. This comfort layer is 3" thick in 10" models.
In the gel foam TheraTouch models, the visco-elastic memory foam is infused with gel to cool the mattress, since memory foam tends to build up heat. The gel absorbs body heat from the sleeping surface and conducts it away to where it can dissipate. Gel also smooths out the support of the memory foam. Most memory foam is now processed to have an open-cell structure, allowing air to circulate through it, further cooling the mattress.
The support core is a high-density, high ILD base foam in the Memory Foam models of the TheraTouch series. This firm core provides the necessary support to the conforming comfort layer so that it does not bottom out, and also to prolong the life of the memory foam. In the 10" model this is 7" high.
Some of the retailer sites seem to indicate that TheraTouch mattresses have a foam encasement edge support. I have not yet been able to confirm this. However, most other foam mattresses rely on the support core for edge support.
Instead of a box spring, the recommended foundation for TheraTouch models is the Corsicana Foundation, a wood platform especially designed for specialty sleep (non-innerspring) mattresses. Box springs do not provide the uninterrupted support needed by foam mattresses. The mattress needs to be protected from sagging.
TheraTouch series mattresses are warrantied by Corsicana for 10 years. Most of the retailers carrying Corsicana models are in the South Central states, but there are others across the country.
It is no longer possible to sleep on this mattress because the memory foam has lost it's memory and there are sink holes when you lay on it and a tendency for two people to roll to the middle. The store where I bought the mattress quit carrying Corsicana Bedding Mattresses approx. 3 years ago because of complaints and the company would not stand behind their warranty. I have looked online and found out that there are many complaints with this company noting the same reasons.
