ThevoRelief - Pain Care Mattress

Thomashilfen bills the ThevoRelief as a mattress for pain care. The purpose is to relieve pain through the night so the pain sufferer can get sleep, quality sleep. The ThevoRelief is designed to relieve pain from continuing conditions. In a background report, two of these are cited, cancer and arthrosis (arthritis). The backdrop for this is expressed in a story on the Thevo website:

A horror story that is repeated every night: After just a few hours, pain becomes rife. Falling back to sleep is out of the question. Awakened in the middle of the night, the person enters a cycle of pain and sleeplessness.

How does the ThevoRelief do this?

Multi-Zone Swiss Foam Layer

ThevoRelief is more than just a mattress. About ½ to ⅔ of the height of the ThevoRelief is a foam layer. The exact kind of foam is not disclosed; it could be polyurethane, memory foam or latex. The description does name "pressure relief" as an attribute of this foam, but the formulation is unique to Thevo mattresses. Thomashilfen calls this the Multi-Zone Swiss Foam Layer, described as "interlocking." It is an open-cell foam with relief cuts top and bottom. Near either end these relief cuts connect to horizontal air channels.

Wings (from video)Wing assembly

Beneath the foam is an array of mounting rods with arms that have a slightly domed disc on each end. These are the "wings" in Thevo's Wing Suspension system, also called Integrated MiS Micro-Stimulation®. Thomashilfen claims that the MiS responds in small ways to any movement by the patient, the discs at the ends tipping individually. According to Thomashilfen, the material is a flexible glass. These are zoned for more support to the middle of the body. A video on the Thevo Information site shows these wings in action.

Pain Suspension

The Wing Suspension system is mounted on flexible shock absorbers called Pain Suspension. The anotation of a cutaway view says they are made of carbon fibers. These are to provide a soft response for the user.

Jersey cover inner liner

The cover of the ThevoRelief therapy mattress for pain care is a jersey knit, shown in photos as red. It is removable and washable. Under it is an ivory colored fabric liner. This is a fire retardant sleeve, made of the same material worn by race car drivers for fire protection.

Foundations for the ThevoRelief were not named, but the articulation of the mattress in diagrams indicates use on an adjustable bed.

The Tomashilfen ThevoRelief therapy mattress boasts of German engineering. The product is made in Germany for worldwide distribution (at least 43 countries). It has a lifetime warranty for the support system, and a 10-year warranty for the surface.
