Tobia Natural Sleep Innovation

The Tobia Natural Sleep Innovation, designed and produced for U.S. and Canadian markets, is made in Spain and sold in North America by Spaldin Sleep Systems, the United States subsidiary of Industrias Tobia. This non-spring mattress features polyurethane foam made with polyols derived from plant oils rather than petroleum. As to the use of isocyanates in making polyurethane, Spaldin says,
"For the isocyanate used in our foam manufacturing process,
we use MDI, which is the safest of isocyanates. While this
isocyanate alone can still cause health effects, the MDI used
to make Spaldin’s foams is transformed into foam during the
foam-forming chemical reaction and thus there is no threat from
free MDI in the foam of your Spaldin mattress."

The Innovation is a tight-top mattress, meaning that the cover is not quilted. The cover fabric is organic cotton blended with Visil, a rayon-silica fire retardant (fire retardancy is required by federal law in the U.S. but not in Canada). Under the cover's sleeping surface is a layer of soft foam made of sunflower and soy oils.

This is an 8" high mattress, so even with the top layer of soft foam, the comfort level is Firm. Spaldin claims that the foam in the support core of the Innovation maintains its level of support over a far wider range of temperatures than sleepers will ever experience.

Various materials in the Tobia Natural Sleep Innovation Foam Mattress, as well as the mattress itself, have several certifications as being non-toxic: Oeko-Tex 100, Class 1 and GOTS.

Bed frames and foundations are sold separately. Innovation is compatible with platforms and European-slats as well as many adjustable beds.
