The PressureGuard APMē Mattress is one of four PressureGuard therapeutic air mattresses listed in the Specialty Mattresses category by Transfer Master Products, Inc. All four of these models are produced by Span America Medical Systems, Inc. The APMē, like the Turn Select, is one of Span America's PressureGuard Powered Treatment Surfaces.
The PressureGuard APMē is described as "A Multi-Function Pressure Mattress." For starters, health care staff can switch the APMē from lateral rotation (as in the Turn Select) to alternating pressure using the Digital Control Unit. Additionally, the APMē utilizes Span America's Shear Transfer Zones as used in their Geo-Matt foam overlay.
In the Alternate Pressure Mode, air pressure alternates from one zone to another. This is advantageous when rotation of the patient is not a good option. It still transfers pressure to relieve pressure points and prevent or treat bed sores.
Another treatment process in the PressureGuard APMē is the Float Mode. The air pressure in this "floatation therapy" is adjusted to emulate the effect of a waterbed is evenly supporting the entire body.
The Digital Control Unit has indicators to warn the users when the air pressure is low and the power is out (such as if it is accidentally unplugged).
Other features on the PressureGuard APMē are Heel Slope to cushion the heels, an Inner Bolster for user safety, a 2" high topper, and the Safety Edge edge support.
The PressureGuard APMē Mattress is covered by a 2-year non-prorated warranty.
