The Tuft & Needle 5-Inch Mattress has evolved from Version 1, Tuft & Needle's original all-cotton tufted mattress (the apparent origin of the Tuft and Needle name) to the present two-layer foam mattress.
The two bonded layers are made of high-density polyurethane foams formulated by the T&N design team, a 3½" support core and a 1½" pressure relief layer. This gives the T&N Five a Medium to Medium Firm overall firmness level. Tuft & Needle calls this level Perfect: not too hard, not too soft. They claim the pressure relief is as good as memory foam, and the bounce is as good as latex, but sleeping cooler than either memory foam or latex. This level eases getting into and out of bed and also eliminates motion transfer and partner disturbance.
The cover of the Tuft & Needle Five is a 95% rayon knit fabric on top and a fire safety layer of siliconized rayon and polyester. Rayon is a made of natural cellulose extracted from woody plant material. The silicon-infused rayon with polyester is naturally flame resistant, requiring no chemicals to meet federal safety standards.
The Tuft & Needle 5-Inch Mattress comes with a 100-nght trial period and a 10-year limited manufacturers warranty. It has an overwhelmingly favorable rating in customer reviews on Amazon.
