The Magnifience is one of the older Vispring models being sold. It features two layers of nested vanadium steel coils and layers of natural materials such as cashmere, mohair, horsehair, cotton and Shetland wool. It is paired with the Viceroy Divan, also by Vispring.
The coils in the two-layered innerspring support core have four turns, shorter than the trademark six-turn Vispring coil springs. However, wiith stacked coils there are effectively eight turns. Pocket coils distribute weight evenly to reduce joint pressure and support the spine. They have been doing this about seven decades longer than memory foam.
The shorter coils allow for more upholstery in the Vispring Magnificence. Vispring describes the cushioning layers as "voluptuous" with a distinctive loft in the fibers. The innermost layer is a blend of cotton with Shetland wool, about 3 oz/ft2. About 4 oz/ft2of the same material is used at the top, just under the cover.
The second layer out is horsetail hair contained in a cambric cover. Made of cotton or linen in a very tight weave, cambric is hair-proof. The long-stranded horsehair is opened and teased by hand to give it a high loft. The resulting weight is only 2.1 oz/ft2. This provides most of the cushioning for the Magnificence.
Following the horsetail hair are three other layers: ¾ oz/ft2 of cashmere, ¾ oz/ft2 of mohair, and 2 oz/ft2 of Shetland wool.
The cover of the Magnificence by Vispring is ivory Belgian satin. However, the customer may choose from Vispring's collection of cover fabrics.
The mattress is tufted by hand, using twine and hand-tied tufts of wool.
The foundation for the Magnificence is the Viceroy. Listed as a boxspring for North America, the Viceroy is listed as a divan elsewhere. This base is not likely to be available in shallow or low profile heights, since it is double sprung with two layers of calico-wrapped pocket coil springs mounted on the solid wood frame. The upper layer has 1400 nested coils in King size. 600 heavier coils are in the lower layer.
The coils in the divan/boxspring are protected on the top with wadding, horsehair, and Britich fleece wool. The default cover is ivory Belgian satin, but the buyer can choose another fabric.
