Zedbed Pure Series
Zedbed calls its
Pure Series "The original paragon of softness." The topmost layer consists of
Zedbed's own
PURE memory foam, a gel-infused version of its
ZedPur.
Zedbed is one of the few mattress manufacturers who formulate and make their own memory form.
PURE is listed as a "bio-based" foam. This is true in part. It may be called "reduced-fossil-hydrocarbon" foam. A key ingredient is soy-derived oils.
According to
Zedbed,
PURE is a slow-response memory foam which gradually returns to its original shape, taking 15 to 30 seconds. It is a "semi-firm" material. The maker cites this characteristic as suitable for orthopedic support, especially when combined with other materials.
The principal support for mattresses in the
Zedbed Pure Series is extra firm base foam the company calls
Celcar. This foam uses
Zedbed's
Air+ Technology. This is a reticulated foam, meaning it is very porous, has a low density, yet is solid. This foam has a high degree of internal air circulation while providing very firm support. Besides its cellular structure, this foam also has channels to enhance the airflow. Thus it cools the foams above it, including memory foam.
The
Celcar also has seven zones of firmness, designed to correspond to differing support requirements of areas of the body: Head, Shoulders, Back, Pelvis, Thighs, Legs, Foot. Configuring mattresses into 3, 5, or 7 zones is now common among manufacturers.
The cover fabric is
Outlast, known for its temperature regulating properties. It is actually deep-stitch sewn to the
PURE foam for a quilted cover with deep channels for further air flow.
Zedbed itself does not name models in the
Pure Series. But there are
Zedbed models listed by various retailers whose descriptions fit this series, for example the "Oasis III" at The Mattress & Sleep Company, and "Coco I" at Simmons Mattress Gallery.
As far as the foundations for
Pure Series mattresses are concerned,
Zedbed recommends full support with ventilation.
