Mattresses in the VX Series by Canadian manufacturer Zedbed feature the company's VX foam in the top layer. VX is described as having the combined properties of memory foam and high-density foam. Like memory foam, it conforms to body contours. But unlike memory foam, it has quick recovery, 5 seconds or less. The overall comfort level is called semi-firm.
The VX foam employs Zedbed's Snowpedic and Perfor-Pro® technologies.
Snowpedic is Zedbed's way of injecting "gel crystals" into the foam for cooling and air circulation. No information is given on how these differ from gel beads used by other manufacturers.
Perfor-Pro® is the perforation of top-level foam to promote air circulation. According to Zedbed, these holes, hundred of them, are "drilled" into the mattress.
The variance among models in the VX Series, at least the three named Vertuo carried by The Brick, a Canadian retailer, is in the thickness of the VX layer. It is 2" in Vertuo Tight-Top, 3" in Vertuo Ultra Tight-Top, and 4" in Vertuo Deluxe Tight-Top.
The middle layer of VX mattresses is Zedbed's Airgo Foam. This is 3½" in the Vertuo models. Airgo is a soy oil foam, developed and formulated by Zedbed. Numerous air channels are cut into the foam so that the least motion by the sleeper(s) pumps air out. This is their Expulse-Air Technology.
The base layer, 4" in Vertuo models, is also soy oil based. Called Celcar Foam, it is very firm to support the entire mattress while acting as a shock absorber.
The cover of VX matttresses is made of Thermocool™ fabric. This is a blend of fibers, engineered to maximize moisture evaporation and breathability. It also incorporates phase change materials for temperature regulation and the Goldilocks effect.
Zedbed covers mattresses in the VX Series with a 10-year warranty. These models are made in Canada available through Canadian retailers.
