Craftmatic Monaco Models

Monaco Models is the top-of-the-line series of adjustable beds by Craftmatic, an early maker of adjustable beds for in-home consumer use. It has more advanced features than the other series, Model I, Model II and Model I Memory Foam. This includes both the adjustable frame and the mattresses.

Common to all Craftmatic adjustable bed models are the Whisper Quiet motors. On the Monaco Models they have a 600-lb. lifting capacity.

The Monaco wireless hand-held remote control is 2-way Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capable, with a digital clock and an LED screen. Apple applications are available and for sale for controlling the bed from a user's smart phone or tablet. It also has a locator feature in case the romote can't be found. Lost remotes are the one main reason some people prefer wired handsets.

Full-body wave massage is a standard feature of Monaco Models as well as Model I and Model I Memory Foam. Optional is heat massage.

Standard to all Craftmatic models is the ability to adjust the bed to many positions. With Monaco Models, many of these are programmable, what Craftmatic calls "Posture Perfect Positions."

One interesting feature in Monaco Models is Snore Silencing, a feature shared with Model I Memory Foam. According to the company's description, it "help[s] alleviate disturbing snores by repositioning their sleeping partner without having to wake them up." This is done by raising or lowering the head of the partner's side of the bed.

Unique to Monaco Models is the sleep timer. What this does is to gently move the bed to a sleeping position after a specified period of time.

Not only do Monaco Models adjustable beds help the users get to sleep, they wake them up with their "gentle wake alarm," which uses a light massage. The timer can also activate an audio alarm.

The difference between the tho Monaco Models is not the adjustable frame, but the mattresses. The Monaco Royalle has an innerspring mattress, the Dual Density Mattresses. Monaco Grande has a memory foam mattress that Craftmatic calls "Top of the line."

The position changing mechanisms of Craftmatic Monaco Models carry a Lifetime Limited Warranty. This includes the motors and gears, the electrical system, and the controls.

I cannot compare to a name brand memory foam mattress as I have never owned one, but from what I read they are about the same. I am currently shopping for a replacement, and the new "hybrid" bob-o-pedic (memory foam over coil springs) was very comfortable in the showroom. It is priced at $599, and I am considering buying, thinking it will not sag as much as my current mattress since the foam is not as thick. My current mattress is not terrible, but it is not great either. This mattress is VERY heavy!

Mattress Rating: 3 stars Adjustable Bed Noise
Adjustable Bed Movement : neutral

Adjustable Bed Durability: up

Still okay after 10 years use

Adjustable Bed Features and Benefits as Advertised: neutral

No coils poking me in the ribs

Quality: neutral

I'm disappointed that the mattress sags so much in the middle. I am heavy (300lbs) so I may be part of the problem, but the support is not even, and it bothers my back.
