Rize Edge

The newest entry level model of Rize Adjustable Power Bases from Mantua Manufacturing is the Edge. This is a simple model with no massage, no array of pre-programmed positions, no memory function to save positions. The deck is simple, too, with only the four basic sections: upper body, hips, thighs, legs/feet.

There are notable upgrades from earlier entry level adjustable beds. First, the remote control is wireless. Previously, the lowest priced adjustable bed models had wired remotes. But now, wireless is the standard. The still-listed Elevation has a hard-wired remote.

It may be wireless, but the remote is simple. It has only five buttons. Two are for raising and lowering the head; two are for raising and lowering the foot; and the middle button returns the deck to a flat position. This is done by letting gravity pull the deck down, much safer than a powered descent.

Lower-end adjustable beds have also benefitted from more powerful motors being standard at lower cost. The lifting capcity of the Edge is 650-lbs. for each unit. This means 1300 lbs. overall in a split size. A distinct improvement over 350/700 lbs. just a few years ago. The electrical system is certified and approved by UL and ETL.

One interesting feature of the Edge is the option of adjusting the deck height. It can be raised 4" higher than the standard height. It can also be lowered by 10 inches. If the user wants to use the space under the bed for storage, 7 cubic feet is available at standard height.

At this moment, the Edge does not show at online retailers. But it is still new, and it would appear to consumers who want the benefits of an adjustable bed without all the bells and whistles and the extra cost.

The Rize Edge is covered by a 20-Year Limited Warranty.
