Craftmatic

Craftmatic was a key manufacturer in the development of adjustable beds for home use. Before this time, adjustable beds were for hospitals and home health care. Since 1974, adjustable beds have become a consumer item. Here is Craftmatic's self description:

_______________

Craftmatic adjustable beds are more than articulated bed frames. The current lineup includes mattresses, making them complete beds, which the company calls "Superior Adjustable Bed Systems." Several features, standard and optional, are offered with their models. The models/series listed on the Craftmatic site are Model I, Model II, Monaco Models, and Model I Memory Foam models.

Except for the foam models, Craftmatic mattresses feature 13-gauge Bonnell innerspring units with a 357 coil count. The Craftmatic I Memory Foam models have HD polyurethane support cores.

Currently, Craftmatic sells their products over the telephone. They do have online contact forms for information and pricing. The company also states that salepersons will not visit customers' homes to make their pitch. Apparently they do negotiate options and costs: the tag on their contact page says, "Name Your Price."

The Craftmatic website has a blog with several interesting articles. If on the current one you click on the name of the author, Steve A., a page with the beginnings of five posts comes up. From here you can click on "Older Posts" to access previous articles.
